Which Vaporeon would be better for defense?

I have a 97.8% WP Vaporeon that I maxed out before the move re-balance due to it having the best defensive move set at the time and having almost perfect stats.

Now that this move isn't optimal on defense, I was considering maxing out one with AT. The thing is, I have only gotten one with this move out of all my evolutions and it is at 80% with 9/15/12 stats. I just recently evolved about 15 and had no luck.

I have my other Vap, a ZH/HB 86.7 Blissey, a good IV ZH/BS Snorlax, bad IV ZH/HB Snorlax, and a good IV C/P Exeggutor, all maxed out, that I am currently using for gym defenders, so another good defender wouldn't hurt.

I do not have anymore good IV Eevees and was wanting opinions on whether I should max this one out or just power it up to level 30 and wait for one with better IVs while continuing to use my other for defense.

Thanks for any help.

I personally like WP on defense, I don't see it as that bad so I would power it up.

I definitely will keep powering it up because it is 97.8% and can get a really high CP. My question was more so should I power up the Aqua Tail one as well?

This only applies to Vaporeon. Just because Water Pulse isn't the best doesn't mean it isn't good

Water Pulse is still defensive. You should do it, especially with those IVs

Hydro Pump is king at the moment, even in defense.

Who fights everyday in gyms will know it!

Going to have to respectfully disagree with you. I find it easy to dodge and even the residual damage from dodging won't take down an eggie / jolty prestiger or attacker. The animation for HP isn't like earthquake or something, I find it pretty straightforward.

I find it easy to dodge

It is easy to dodge when you expect it. When waiting for the text "Hydro Pump incoming", and you are stuck in a cooldown, it is often too late. When dodging everything (not neccesairy for Water Gun normally), you will dodge Hydro Pump too.

and even the residual damage from dodging won't take down an eggie / jolty prestiger or attacker.

With the actual battle system, a dodged damage that would have killed an attacker if not dodged, makes a invisible attacking pokemon and scrambles its energy too. Thus, a dodged WP forces attacker to change pokemon. Nasty.

The animation for HP isn't like earthquake or something, I find it pretty straightforward.

Earthquake is easy to dodge if you know when to slide. It lasts long enough. Hydro pump is straight forward, but extremely fast and hard to dodge imo.

The invisible thing is something we all deal with and yes, it is infuriating. Being “stuck in a cooldown” is kinda your own fault for not timing your moves right or waiting for the defender to be done with its charge move. Most people don’t realize that you don’t always have to use your charge move. This happens a lot because people have dodged accordingly, gotten their charge move ready, and are just sitting there waiting for the defender to blow their load. But by the time they dodge and are ready to use it, they might as well just hit them with their quick move 3-4 more times instead of waiting for a long charge move which may be overkill. So the inexperienced player just lets the charge move go as soon as its ready (ie eggie with super long solar beam cooldown that then gets washed out in a vaporeons HP), or when the Vape only needs 3 more zen headbutts, they use solarbeam because hey I am a grass pokemon which is super effective and dammit I want to use my grass move.

The main reason that currently could make HP king is the glitch which forces you to switch Pokemon. Otherwise, AT for me.

I think HP is the best honestly with the dodge bug...

I was prestiging today and even if I dodge, I see the huge chunk of HP taken out (even if dodged), then they take it out AGAIN it seems...and I faint...

For whatever reason, I see a double drop in health after dodging.

Then I am in the endless loop...

Until this is fixed, I think all the heavy hitting 1 bar charge move is doing it's job and being awesome...

Seriously, all Vaporeon movesets are quite close together, so I think every 98 Vaporeon is worth being maxed out as a defender. :)

I prefer AT to HP on both offense and defense. If you've already invested in a WP Vape, continue with it because it's strong, but I'd never power one up from scratch now.

What CP is your Aqua Tail Vaporeon at right now? And what are your next biggest Vaporeons (IV, CP, move)?

If Aqua Tail is at a usable range for prestige, then I would leave it there.
