GamePress

I have been lucky to have my only dragon 84% DB/DC currenly slightly over 3200 CP
Now i am getting close to have the chance to evolve another nite (around 30 candies far that i would be able to obtain walking)
My question is if gamble for a 91% DT/O or keep on powering this one?
Did anyone has compared a DB/DC vs DT/O. Gamepress rate both A but pogomoves gives DB/DC an 86% value than DT/O.

Thanks for ur inputs

I would roll the dice and evolve a second one. But I'm a gambler and have gotten many a Steel Wing, most with the dreaded Hyper Beam. So I must raise a finger of caution, 125 Dratini candy is a high price to pay for some RNGeesus, but I would do it without hesitation, especially considering your DB/DC is already a Big Boy (or Gherl).

Hmm, it sounds like you're more or less asking whether it's better to have two level 30 Dragonites or one level 35 Dragonite. Without knowing how many attackers and defenders you have, your play style, how common Dratinis are, or any of that, my guess is that the benefit of having a second Dragonite (regardless of the moveset) is higher than powering up your DB/DC above 30. After all, the returns on powering up a mon above 30 are fairly negligible - do you really think you need another ~200 CP on your current Dragonite, or is he performing just fine as an attacker right now?

Well, there are several things involved here.
First i was happy to get the best mon with the best moveset to power it to the max, but with the new movesets this DB/DC seems not to be the best moveset in paper, and as i dont have the chance to test a DT/O i like to hve the impressions of the people that have tried both.
I havent catched any wild dratini so i need to walk for candies (which will mean stop of gettin chansey candies)

My attacking rooster is

This nite
Gyarados maxed B/HP
Jolteon maxed TS/T
Vape maxed WG/HP
Machamp almost maxed L
And last spot depends on the gym
Alakakam pc/p
Venusaur
Or another vape wg/aT

All of your offensive Pokemon appear to have very fast quick moves. Keep in mind that Dragon Tail is significantly slower than those moves, so you may want to take your play style into consideration before you make a decision.

Assuming you aren't putting your DB/DC in a gym, I don't see a reason to bring it any higher. I stopped mine at 3000 cp and he works just fine.

That being said, I am the proud owner of 3 HB Dragonites (2 are 95% and both have SW.) My DB/DC one was wild caught. Would you be okay with that moveset? He could sit high in gyms after all...

I would definitely evolve the 2nd. There is much more value in having a 2nd (regardless of moveset) than going from the top of most gyms (at 3200) to the top of almost all gyms (at 3400 or whatever)

Even if you get SW, you still have a Dragonite to consider powering up for gyms.

I have both DBDC and DTOR, and I think DTOR is more devastating on attack. It isn't as much fun because DT is slower, but it really eats up a Snorlax or Blissey.

I have an 89 IV DB/DC and have caught a wild DT/O around the 2800 CP mark. DB/DC is better, no questions asked. Unless you absolutely hate dodging and just tap (common there’s only one other thing to do besides tap let’s dodge here people). But I gotta say man I have my DB/DC powered up to 2200 CP and I don’t see a reason for going higher. He demolishes anything in his path. I would say roll the dice not necessarily on a high IV (hey if its high level and high IV then more power to you), but find a good balance of a high IV and CP/lvl. If you get a crap moveset, well then don’t invest and dump him in a gym he will do well. If he gets a good moveset then great! He is already a high CP so you won’t feel bad about dumping a little extra dust in him even if he’s only 75 IV or something.

What is the point in gambling with a low level dratini if i have a 91% ready for it?

I believe what he meant is if you do not absolutely need it but nevertheless would not mind another good attacker on your roster, go for a decent balance between cp and iv. If your 91iv one is high cp too, great. If he isn't and you also have, say, a 75iv one at level 30, the latter will be an instant top attacker if he gets a good moveset in the evolve process. So a high return on investment, albeit nothing for the trophy box.

I did the same with an old zh/sob exeggutor I still had around: although its iv are only 75ish, given it was already at around level 32 I powered it to max in order to have an additional attacker option against blissey, whereas my level 20 extrasensory/sob 89iv exeggutor remained on the shelf. I am not a big exeguttor fan in general, so I shied away from the additional investment (although a maxed out 89iv es/sob exeggutor would be way more of a trophy, of course) given that I would only be using it as a fallback attacker against Blissey.

I got both DB/DC and DT/O. Exact IVs and CP. DB/DC is much more polished and sweeps gyms defeating more defenders than DT/O. DT/O is outrageously fun to use. Destroys mons very fast but does take more damage due to long CD of Outrage. DB/DC is all business if you want to take out a level 10 gyms efficiently.

Could you expand on this?

Do you prefer DB+DC in both dodge-all and dodge-charge-only scenarios?

For each scenario, does DB+DC result in killing the defender faster and / or retaining more HP?

You can dodge better with db/dc. Ie you can kill 2+ vap at higher level. Even warning from aqua tail, dc still allows you to dodge most of the time. Dt/or kills a bit quicker. You get more point on prestiege.
I found dt/or is better when killing Blessey and defensing gym. That is all

Our gym (the one untouched for over 2 weeks) got destroyed last night. Time to take it back!
