So, I evolved 7 Gyarados since I started playing this game in July. I maxed out one Gyarados with DB/DP and one with B/HP. Then I sent two to the Professor (one DB/DP and one with Twister).
Since then I got two with B/HP and one with B/OR. The game doesn´t want me to get one with DT apparently...(Dragonites all got SW since the change too). So now my question is wheather DT is so much better than B for offense and defense? Obviously you have the effective damage vs Dragonite whereas B is only good against Exeggutor among common defenders. Would you power up another B/HP Gyarados or even the B/OR or wait for a DTHP or DT/OR one? All have 90+ IV and dust is not really a problem.
DT is also better against Tyranitar, since he resists Dark.
IMO, you should use the dusts when you get a DT/O or DT/HP since these are the most optimal choices and karps are common as fuck during this event.
Try to evolve a couple more until the event ends and see what you get. Worst case scenario, you got yourself some high CP gym slots hunter.
Save the B/HP in case Steelix gets a boost after the gym rework.
