Uses for Azumarill?

So with the ubiquitousness of Marill during the water event (like cute street corner hustlers), what uses have y'all found for Azumarill?

They have interesting typing: water and fairy. It's handicapped by low max CP of 1503, so it looks like it would serve best to be a prestiger. It has some pretty good resistances in the current gym meta (dragon, water) and some less useful ones (fighting, bug, fire, ice, dark).

GP rates its general usefulness as a 4/10.

With a fairy charge move (since there is no fairy quick move yet), does that leave it's only real niche as a prestiger against dragonite -- if that?

I use them to prestige against Dragonites. They do well in that roll but arent good for much else.

RS/IB ones do well against dragonites for prestiging

With fighting and water quick moves though..I'm not sure if it's going to be that great of a dragonite prestiger.

Since you're going to evolve and have it end up with 1000-1100 CP anyway, and Dnites are usually 2700+, so you'll be using an unnecessarily weak pokemon for max prestige.

To get max prestige points, I am usually underpowered if the first mons are considerably lower than the upper Nites. Honestly, though, as a solo player on the minority team, it's getting harder and harder to find non-Level 10 gyms around anyway. Gyms either belong to the other team or are already Level 10.

Solid CP and defense stats allows Azumarill to be a good prestiger, epecially if you encounter low-CP (like 1800-2200 CP) mon in gyms and want to get a full +1000 prestige
Counters Dragonite (obviously) and fire-types (if you see ones in gyms)
I think it's good to keep one with B/HP or B/PR for such specific cases

Actually, they murder Rhydons. A level 30 Azu will be around 1300 which accounts for a lot of Rhydons while also having the flexibility to take out 2800-3000 ones. Fairy typing resists Rock Smash and Azu has a huge HP pool; with Bubble and Hydro Pump Rhydon just crumples.

Azumarill is actually an amazing prestiger, very tanky, kinda like a mini-Wigglytuff. She's great against Rhydon (with Hydro Pump), Tyranitar and Dragonite - or Fire types, if you ever see them. Try her out!

Agreed! I am keeping one of each possible moveset for the gym rebalance too as Azu has always been pretty good in the core games.

That's interesting. Is there a relation between core games quality and pogo quality for pokemons? P.s. pogo is my first imersion in pokemon universe.

Yes there is quite a close relationship but it's not proportional.

Compared to original games:

Base HP in Pogo is the same
Base Attack in Pogo is a combo of Base Attack, Base Special Attack and to a lesser extent Base Speed (iirc) from original
Base Defense in Pogo is a combo of Base Defence and Base Special Defense from original

Sorry I can't find the link to where this is explained on this site. Wasted 5 mins trying to find it grrrr.

The CP changes after some updates has been due to the changing of how the stats from the original games are interpreted into the more compact/simplified PoGO stats.

Don't use them much except Marrill during evolve sessions and then transfer them lol.

I have one with rock smash that I've actually used successfully against Snorlaxes - I have basically ZERO other mons with good fighting moves, though.
