Attacking with Lanturn

Have any of you had success attacking with it? My friend recommended using it to attack Vaporeon and Gyarados with its charge beam, Thunderbolt moveset. I evovled two and got Cb/Thunder. I used it on a Gyarados and it did well and survived a Hydro pump.

I have 100 candies. I need two good Iv Chinchou to evolve. Hope I get charge beam tbolt.

I find charge beam so slow that I prefer water gun over charge beam for dodging and charging (not even sure if it's more efficient for charging but feels so).

Try to find a chinchao you can evolve to the amount of CP you want. I was slightly too enthusiastic and ended up with two Lanturn with too high CP.

My guess would be around 600 cp. To make sure, you should check in a calculator first as pokeassistant once you managed to catch one.

I must come back from my charge beam statement earlier. It is excellent to charge for your charge move. Only down side is that I'm only able to pull out one quick attack between each dodge which I usually don't really like.

Edit: wouldn't it be better to aim for a 1400 Lanturn? In my area gyarados are all 2850 CP+

I struggle with this also. Because Gyrados tend to be higher CP (like you said, around 2,850), it's tempting to get a higher CP prestiger that stands a better chance in battle. However, to get the full 1,000 prestige per mon, the highest CP of your prestiging team can only be at half the CP of the lowest mon at the gym. Admittedly, it can leave your prestiging team a little weak. If there's too big of a CP disparity between the high and low mons in a gym, you either go for less than the full 1,000 or keep beat the bottom mons, flee, repeat. For me, if I can't get the full 1,000, I try never to have a higher CP for a prestiger than the lowest CP mon in the gym. That way I am sure to get at least 500 per mon defeated.

I see your point and it's very valid. This will heavily depend on your personal situation. In my environment the lowest Pokemon are always around 2800+ CP. For you this could be indeed different.

I've used my CB/TH as a trainer and he's done well but because of his super high HP stat needs a lot of potions to heal up. Because of that fact I'd rather use any of the other electric types.

Thunderbolt is a lot better than Thunder though (which I don't have) so maybe that version would be worth the damage due to higher damage output.

I've used my Water Gun/Thunderbolt Lanturn effectively against Dragonites 1500 CP stronger than it with proper dodges.
