Snorlax with Lick/Hyper Beam slightly underwhelming for attacking?

I hatched my second Snorlax and was excited when I found out he had Lick and Hyper Beam. My previous Snorlax who I use for gym defense has ZH and Body Slam but I have used him to attack before when he isn't in a gym.

On thing I really like with Body Slam is I can almost always dodge the first attack after I cast BS where as with HB I'm almost always taking a shot or two with the long cool down.

I think I might like ZH better than Lick too. I powered up this new Snorlax a little to about 1850 and wondering if I should just save the candies (42 candies still). I am finding I need another higher CP attacker and wondering if I should power up this new Snorlax (77% IV).

Am I missing something with this Lick/HB Snorlax? I expected more for some reason.

use lick for attacking and zen headbutt for defending. I only power up defending pokemon.

Lick is definitely superior for attacking, it's super quick and good for exeggutors which are popular. Hyper beam is great if you use it at the right time.

Snorlax just seems underwhelming because his attack is so low. In the long run his health makes up for it. He is handy as an attacker because you can always throw him in your attacking lineup without worrying about type matchups.

Yeah he has enough HP to knock out 3-4 pokemon just on his own in a gym battle without fainting. Which is helpful if you're looking to defeat all the pokemon in a level 10 gym with your 6 mons.

with your hp, you can lick the opponent to death lol

Its a great one. I would power him up till level 30. Theres no reason to power up only defensive pokemon once attackers are who you really use to battle and destroy gyms.

The great thing about snorlax is his survivability. I have zen headbutt/body slam, and he definitely kills things slower than some of my other top tier attackers. But he has so much life, he often can kill more pokemon than those others can, thus saving potions. Other than that, I can agree with you. His attack stats aren't amazing
