If the sole purpose of my Tyranitar is to be a primary attacker is it worth taking over level 30?

I don't intend to put it up in a gym due to better defenders & too enjoyable of a attacker to be stuck in a gym lol. Is the cost worth it past level 30?

That's kind of a personal question. In general the answer is no. It's just too expensive after 30. That said I've moved many strong attackers past 30. For me it's about availability of dust and/or candy, and what your current gym scene is

Fair point! Lol I was basically trying to decide keep on investing in 1 Tyranitar or save candy to build a second. If I may ask what attackers did you take last level 30? I took Snorlax, Dragonite, and Vape as attackers all past level 30. Lol

I never felt badly about Dragonite and Snorlax since they are dual purpose defense and offense. There are plenty of others I've taken past like my 100% Jolteon, a strong Lapras, just because they are so useful and can often be used to great advantage through multiple defenders of the same type. I agree with the other poster in that you should see how often you use him and see if he fits that catagory since it is an enormously expensive move that on paper is hard to justify but in reality is really fun when done with the right mons.

Lol I really want a Lapras w/ good enough IVs a/ 2 ice moves to power up so jealous! ???. Love Snorlax some people don't enjoy him as an attacker but he's a tank and HB is so devastating.

Attackers I have taken above 30 that I still use semi-regularly:
Vaporeon Hydro Pump
2 Vaporeon Aqua Tail (both currently sitting in gyms, a third at lv26 and 96% that I am thinking of powering)
Venusaur Vine Whip/Solar Beam
Jolteon Thunderbolt
Gyarados Bite/Hydro Pump
Exeggutor Confusion/Solar Beam
Exeggutor Zen Headbutt/Solar Beam
Snorlax Lick/Body Slam
Lapras Ice Shard/Blizzard

I've maxed a number of each of Dragonite, Snorlax, Rhydon, Vaporeon, Gyarados, & Exeggutor. I'd max my Tyranitar and Lapras too if I had the candy. This is maxed in the sense that the power up button disappears because they can go no further. No regrets at all, but as said well, a personal thing.

Leave it at 30 for now. See how often you use it and how versatile it is. Decide based on that if you want to power it up. I have taken a lot of my most used attackers well past level 30 so that they can more easily take on multiple defenders in a high level gym.

What's the moveset?

Personally I'd definitely take him over 30 if you have the candy and dust to spare in that case - I know B/SE is optimal DPS but I feel like Crunch allows you to get in attacks much like a DC Dragonite;!

Honestly Crunch feels a lot more like Dragon Pulse, but I don't mind it. I can launch several of those when I choose to. I wish they sped Crunch up, but that'd be too OP. Just so happy to have a attacking Tyranitar so no complaints from me w/ this current move set.

If you are big on dodging, Crunch is nothing like a DC Dragonite. DC takes 1.7 seconds. It's less than 2 seconds, so you can squeeze it in between any defender's attack with out taking a hit. Crunch is 3.2 seconds -- almost twice as long. You'll get hit every time with Crunch, which will be quite often since it is a quick to charge 3-bar attack. If the defender has difficult to predict charge moves, you'll likely get hit by charge moves as well. However, if you don't dodge or only dodge charged moves, then you'll see much less of difference.

If it were me, I'd hold out for a B/SE to power up as an attacker (no need to power up defenders beyond level 30 in my meta since Tyranitar is ~3100 CP at level 30). However, if you don't dodge or only dodge charged attacks, then you'll see much less of a difference, and B/C may be fine.

B/SE is w/o a doubt the best general attacking moveset for Tyranitar, but against Blissey I'm only going to dodge quick moves so I'm pretty ok Crunch. SE is great but you have a 1/6 chance in obtaining that moveset which is why I'm hesitant in evolving another atm.

i'd leave it at 30, only defenders or dual roles are worth going past 30 IMO (and as another poster stated)

I assume a key purpose of your Tyranitar will be a Blissey slayer. If you use calcs/sims or the damage equation on this site, you'll see that your Tyranitar's Bite attack is right on the border between doing 4 damage and doing 5 damage against Blissey. If you power it up to the point where it will do 5 damage, then you'll go through Blisseys much faster than with 4 damage. This specific level required for this depends on both your attack IV and the the level of the Blisseys that are defending, so it's difficult to give a general answer,.

:) No sir as a primary attacker into Blissey, Snorlax, Dragonite, and the occasional appearance of (Espeon, Gengar, and Zam). Just a super fun Pokemon to use! lol

only max out a team of your best 6 attackers, and then your defenders. if you got a good moveset to attack on tyranitar (bite/se) push it to the limit! and of cause he is still tier 2.5 defender so max him anyway when he dont get fireblast.
