Is magneton overrated?

I understand how it has a nitch against dragonite because of it's resistance to dragon and double resistance to flying & steel attacks, which are all unquestionably huge. But doesn't its incredibly low hp & cp nullify these as an attacker against dragonite's much higher hp & cp?
To me, it looks like it would still get killed even against steel wing/hurricane.

Take a short look on piloswine's rating and compare it to magneton's. Yes, it is ridiculous.
The person at GamePress who has casted the dices for pokemon rating must have been unlucky here.

If you do not aim for Dragonite but for Gyarados, compare magneton's rating with Lanturn's. Yes, it is (even a bit more) ridiculous.

I have not found an explaination for the rating table. My working hypothesis: Numbers from 0 to 10 are given according to CP and, if a pokemon is on attacker's or defender's tier list, adjusted manually.
If this hypothesis is true, rating is nonsense, sometimes misleading.
Actual Tier lists, actual moveset evaluations and Stat-distribution are sufficient.

The ratings aren't finished yet. He will probably be a 6.5 or 7 at max. Qwilfish rate is ridiculous though.

It is not good, that this takes so long.

IMO, it is far worse, that they simply let the misleading wrong texts and ratings online. Yes, ok, they did not manage to actualize. In this case, no rating is batter than a clearly wrong rating.

If you look at swineup and lanturn, even some new ratings is ridiculous.

I have to agree to this. The ratings are in many cases very, very misleading. This does not apply to the top tier ones, but to many others.

CP isn't an issue, HP is. I assume you based the "overated" part on GP's 8 rating? Before Gen 2, he is one of my most efficient Electric prestigers because of his resistances. Keep in mind GP isn't finished updating its Dex so probably it'll change. Nowadays, Lanturn is my go-to electric prestiger.

Hell, Yeah!
Lanturn rocks against Gyarados.

I sometimes use it even as attacker. It works great, a bit slower than jolteon, but it can take missed dodge without fainting.

What do you mean overated do you mean underrated? You're still better off using ice vs dragonite and magnetons only niche is prestiging vs gyrados

Ok, I can see that potential. I've just never made an attempt at maximum prestige efficiency; I've always just thrown jolteon against gyarados, watched the carnage, and wondered why gyarados is so overrated as a defender for anything other than not sitting at the bottom of a gym due to high cp. Although, the ability to sit higher than blissey now shouldn't be underrated in anyway.

Magneton is an amazing prestiging Pokemon, destroys Gyarados and is viable against Dragonite if you have FC but electric movesett struggle against dragon.

Rating is low because of CP and Stamina but works great as an attacker
