PSA-If you are waiting for a good time to buy incubators...now is probably the time

It has been noted here and on the Silph road the egg chances per research.

Even if you think that eggs have a strong biome tie or whatever your chances of drawing a "good pull" from eggs is unlikely to get better. With the starters ready to get dropped at whatever rarity among others the hard to get mons can only get more rare. There are no mons withheld from eggs that fall in this catagory. So if Silph road research is correct there cannot be a better time to invest unless legendary mons get dropped into eggs out of nowhere.

Thoughts?

Agree. 2km and 10km eggs are very useful while 5km egg is really useless.

while 5km egg is really useless.

Not so. There are just more possibilities. But 5km eggs have many useful hatches, especially if you look long term. They give you Rhyhorn, Porygon (a rare mon for the Pokedex and also one whose candies will be needed for the very good Porygon-Z), Lickitung (also rare and whose candies will similarly be needed for Lickilicky), Phanpy (Donphan is one of the best mons to come from Gen 2), Smoochum (Jynx is now very viable with Avalanche as a charge move), Elekid (will need its candies for Electivire), Magby (will need its candies for Magmortar), Eevee, Tangela, Scyther (needed to evolve Scizor), Onix (needed to evolve Steelix), Omanyte, Sandshrew (Sandslash is an underrated good attacker and great prestiger), Staryu (Starmie with Water Gun/Hydro Pump is very good), Grimer (very, very rare, and Muk can be useful), Magnemite (will need its candies for Magnezone), Shellder (Cloyster is a great Dragonite killer), Poliwag (Poliwrath with fighter moves is strong against Tyranitar), etc.

2km and 10km eggs are very useful

2km eggs contain plenty of junk too (Goldeen, Krabby, male and female Nidoran, Diglett, Ekans, Remoraid, Slugma, etc.). And there are a few questionable 10 km egg hatches also (e.g., Mantine, Skarmory, Sudowoodo).

That is true. But usually from 5km egg I got Ponyta, Paras, Sandshrew while from 2km egg I got some starters.

I hatched back to back Mantines the other day. And I had one. so salty.

I had to LOL. Not 10 minutes after I read this post, I hatched a Goldeen, a Krabby, an Ekans, AND a Slugma. Just a treasure trove of junk. Couldn't be a Squirlte, so I'd finally have the candy for a Blastoise...

You forgot Pineco in the questionable 10km list... Here, my 10km gives mostly Pineco! Evolved a couple of them, got worst movesets. Guess I live in an area where there's lots of Pine tree. (Yes, I know, no relation). Just saying: hate Pineco ;)

Where is Magikarp? 0% hatch?

Not currently in the draw. So every Magikarp you do not clog your egg array with could be a good mon.

Magikarp was always a great pokemon to hatch for the extra candy and occasionally really good IVs. :,-(

Tyrogue, Seel, Onix, Shellder, Phanpy, etc, 5 kilometer eggs are not totally useless.

You are right. Those have some extended use or candy stockpile uses but in general a 5K egg is going to be a disappointing hatch for most players tbh.

Rhydon will have a mega evo for example. Folks will wish for times he was more common when that time comes.

Actually the best time to buy incubators would of been christmas, but yeah, the eggs are rolling right now!

For me I would swap the Chansey for the Dratini in rarity.
I keep getting Chansey after Chansey and only had 1 dratini recently...and zero Pineco.

Yes, lots of 10kms eggs and the hatch rates have changed...but it indicates to me that it is indeed biome dependant.

I am getting a huge number of Chansey too.
I also think there is a (weaker than often implied) tie to biome but I'll admit I think it exists. But, sidestepping that discussion, the fact you can get Chansey reliably until the Mon draw gets watered down with garbage supports my OP. There may be no better time to invest.

For sure...I have noticed a lot more 10km eggs, and more desirable drops from them.

Who was this guy that was giving you grief? Just curious

I would rather not say.
The person is not here to respond, and GP have made the decision to make it a thing of the past - so I will respect that.

Okay, was only asking out of curiousity if I would recognize the name, but you make a good point. Fair enough, I respect your respect! :) lol glad you don't have to deal with this person anymore ?

Thanks for a thread that is a good omen.
I just went out after posting here, and while out I got 3x10km eggs.

...it must be a good time for incubators. ;-)

Unless the Easter event involves eggs, in which case it might be more useful to save up to spend during Easter.
