Evolution Failures and proposal

Dragonites:

I've been working really hard, spending every weekend farming Machops and Dratinis after Gen 2, spending incubators on hatching eggs, and THIS is what I got. Sooooo frustrating.

I think they should implement a system that guarantees non-repetitive evolution move set (from what you have in storage currently; if you have all then randomly pick one). That way we still have to evolve 6 times to be sure to get the optimal but it feels much more safe. Sign...

Anyone agrees?

On the bright side it seems like you can easily obtain Machop and Dratini candy. Obtaining that level of Dratini candy is special even w/ the Pineap berries. So you're due for some good Nite Evos soon! In the meantime enjoy the DT one.

It was never easy. I had to run back and forth for the whole Saturday afternoon in a few blocks and a park with a lake. Every time I finished my legs hurt. And now I've run out of both candies and feel so desperate...

Yeah it's hard for Nite man 2/6 are really good movesets 1/6 is pretty solid (which you got). That's why evolving Nite is always so frustrating lol. This rationale can also be applied for Machops, but they're common Pokemon so it's not as big a deal. Keep it up man! You'll get a DT/O or H on your next evolution :) I can sense it.

I hope so....thanks for comforting.
My plan is to wait for a Machop nest (next Thur is a migration I guess?). Hope there is at least one with good quality in the whole city...

I'm pretty sure that there will be a reroll option for pokemon moves soon. Probably will come together with the gym rework.

Save those evolutions for a better future.

Yeah I only throw away repeated move set (the 3rd Machamp is in Professor's hand now), and I convince my self after that next move rebalance they will be good...

I, too, feel that a way to change moves will be introduced, possibly when PVP comes out.

I can't imagine Niantic not implementing some pay-to-win aspect in PVP, the ability to customize moves could be one of them.

If you guarantee non-repetitive movesets then it will make it very difficult to get multiple mons with the ideal moveset.
The same function that would work for some, would work against other.

That is, to get 2 mons of the 'ideal' moveset you guarantee to need to evolve at least 7 and possibly as many as 12.

Just the other side of the same coin.

You're right, but for most people (including me) getting one is the goal. For those who want to get more, they need to get 7th+ (after 7th it's always random), still Niantic can make money by selling incubators

I am not totally against the idea at all...but I just wanted to point out the other side of it.

Hello,
since I start playing this game on August, 2016, more than 12 gyarados were made from evolution without hydro pump or any best offensive/defensive movesets.
You'll never walk alone friend.

on the upside you could be regional. I have been playing since August and have only ever had enough candy to evolve 3 Machamps and 2 dragonites (level 32 Machamps all rubbish dragonti DB/DP and still waiting for a dratini with decent IV's to have a second go)

Probability of not getting the 1 out of 6 moves is 5/6. Probability of not getting the 1 out of 6 moves after trying N evolutions is (5/6)^N.
5/6 >> (5/6)^N if N is large.
The larger N is, the higher probability that you'll get the moveset you want.
Law of large numbers guarantees after you evolve an infinite number of times, you will have the moveset you want.

My fear is that before I reach a "large number" of trials they rebalance the moves again and add better new ones....

Niantic is looping: players work hard to gamble, after a long time there is a success, then move rebalance, previous nest movesets are useless. It is amazing that some people still enjoy this process, even when they have realized it. They just have so much free time and the seem be satisfied of anything, just like babies in kindergarten. What more I can say, just continue. Niantic needs you.
