So I have a 88.8%iv Tyranitar that I worked hard to level up because i thought he had a good moveset. This would be the third time today I posted his ass up at a gym and he doesn't last. I go back and look at there's a 2k vaporeon sitting at the gym he was at. Is the water meta that strong? Should I even bother with this mon?

his best asset is definitely CP. That being said, this is his best defensive moveset, and definitely worth powering up in my opinion.

Tbh Tyranitar is "weak" as a defender. Anyone can take him down easily with a lvl30+ (Or even lower) WG/HP Vaporeon.

People throw him into gyms for the same reasons as Gyarados and Rhydon... gym placement.

Harder to beat than Rhydon.

Easier to beat than Dragonite because ice pokémon spawns are rare.

...and he isn't dropping steel wing as protection. Even though every defender is vulnerable there's nothing in the high CP group like a Tyranitar. I mean his attackers even resist his moves unlike dragon moves or steel wing. He sucks tbh.Maybe this will change in the update somehow.

People must like battling it
You should definitely keep investing in this. Highest currently available combat power and best moveset for defense. Lots would kill to have one like it. And no matter what you put in a gym, somebody will have the capacity to defeat it. May as well get that placement

Most low level 20ish players can ruin a Tyranitar better than any other high CP gym defender. If you place him it needs to be a place there are actual defenders with lower CP to protect him.

They aren't even arranged by CP. There are better in the following 3 screenshots full of Vapes. I just evolve all eeeves above 650 CP in the wild. They don't need good IVs to be cannon fodder and act as potion holding places.

Who cares about IVs when you can get enough candy and find an eevee around 700CP to evolve anytime in under 1 hr?

Idk man I kinda think he's weak too he's defiantly good IV 88.8% it's just frustrating. I think some people are right about not having back up I mean I am instinct the bastard child of Pokémon go

How? I always fight alone...I'm a lvl 30 and I don't have any friends to play with. I have to piggyback random instinct ppl by luck

The Big question is do you enough stardust?

Up

you need 135,000 stardust to go from 30 to Level 39. Unless you really need higher cp in your area I would save the stardust

Well what should I save up for? or anything I should focus on? I can get that much if it's nice out and I can go for a run

If you are in an area where gyms fall quickly or you get no help you may need to go the route I did and build an attacker crew where you can flip as many gyms as quickly as possible them just collect what you can.

nice collection, I have 2 pokemon level 39 max but I can honestly say the difference from Level 30 to 39 is not very big But hey don't let me stop you from having a max pokemon.

They are really rare here, so I've marked a gym where someone put one in behind a 2600 Blissey and 2900 Snorlax - a small price to pay for a chance to battle a new mon! Perhaps the same in your meta, is aTyranitar an open invitation?

Only good defenders are Snorlax and Blissey.

Tyranitar, Dragonite, Rhydon for gym placement.
Only for gyms that alrdy have defenders and which are more stagnant and get attacked more rarely.

In my opinion.

The short answer is only Blissey and Snorlax are good defenders. The ones with CP enough to be with those two all have huge weaknesses (electric, ice, fighting, water/grass) that are common. That's the nature of the game. Attackers have the advantage noticably.

Tyranitar like dragonite just are a cp sit guys, that is the meta however crunch hits hard and iron tail does too, that is his best defensive moveset of all

but yeah isnt like he is going to stand in a gym by alone, just like dragonite the only pokemon who can do that is blissey and is because the big hp pool it has so will perhaps make the person not kill him in time

so isnt a tyranitar problem only, but that is his best defensive moveset and will get you nice spots in gyms

Buffed up Rhydon in a scary costume. Not much else tbh.

Find friendly gyms that are at least level 5 and prestige them up, then put that beast up on the top.
