Scyther for killing Exeggutors ?

Hey guys,
Have you tried Scyther against Exeggutors ? I read that they are awesome if they have bug moves.

I live in an area where Exeggutors are all over the gyms. And sometimes my Arcanine and my Flareon can't battle of them.

Scyther is a mon that I've always liked from the series, and its rare in my area. I have hatched like 3 in the past but they always came with Steel Wing or Night Slash.

Today I hatched an 80% Scyther with Fury/X-Scissor.

I have enough dust to give him a few power ups as I love this mon, but I want to know if any of you have tried this mon against Exeggutor. Specially with this moveset.

Thanks!

Edit: I forgot to mention that I find it really fun to play against the top tier mons with these low tier specific counters mons. To me is the more atractive asepct of the game.

I use a scyther with fury/bbuzz to decimate exeggutors. Fury cutter alone just destroys it. Can confirm what you've heard. Mine is at 1500~ CP and it can KO 2000-2500 Eggies with ease.

Thanks! What about fury/scissor ?

According to this page it's almost as good in terms of DPS, and I love the fact it has a really short cooldown. However, I didn't test it yet as I got it a few hours ago.

It would be great to hear from someone who has this moveset.

Same move set on a parasect. X scissors cooldown is fast enough to use it and dodge the next attack. I prefer it because even though it doesn't do as much DPS as bug buzz, you'll do more total damage from your Pokemon living longer due to being able to dodge, which you'll probably need to do even with the type advantage.

It works very well. If you have no arcanines it may be worth powering up. I agree with low tier mons, much more fun. I've spent so much dust on low tier mons it would drive most people crazy.

People always talk about how dust is a scarcity and a limiting factor and should only be saved for top tier Pokemon. I used to be one of those people, but, looking at it, top tier Pokemon already have such a CP advantage off the bat and the base stats to boot, so "lower-tier" Pokemon that have some use are almost better uses for stardust.

The only problem i see will be when you evolve him in generation 2 (moveset).

You mean getting a bad moveset when evolving ?

Yeah, it might. However, if you take a look at the base stats from Scizor at this same page, they are almost identical from Scyther. I mean, just a little better... so honestly I think Scizor will be a different mon, rather than a Scyther evolution (because of the not that much difference in base stats and CP).

Just looked at scizor, shouldn't he have dual resist to psychic?

Scyther is true enemy of Exeggutor. I use Scyther sometimes and they can beat Exeggutor 1000CP higher than them. And of course it's really fun fighting with a Scyther.

Scyther is great, but I use butterfree. Double resist grass for solarbeam, no weakness to psychic (like venomoth for example) and better move set of BB/BB. ?

That's my anti Exegg line-up: I don't even need to power'em up... a single 1k Parasect with bug bite and X-Scissor can kill 2 2K+ Exeggs if you know how to dodge...

I've been using the bug armada against exeg's, and they all work..just some are better.
Skyth is the top, especially considering the Gen 2 upgrade..but I use others more because bugbite is much better than furrycutter..I usually use parasect because movesets are so available with poison, plus a decent dodge skill.
I also much prefer signal beam (love it) and X-sciss to Buzz..considering any of these dinky bugs can't handle hits ))
