Ultra ball question

I see an squirtle and hit twice ultra ball and great hit no catch. Then I chance regular ball and normal hit and caught! And that not fist time it happens. Catching is random?

it's not entirely random, but there is an element of RNG (random number generated). Think of it this way, say for example you've got a 70% chance to catch with ultraball -- just made up this number for sake of argument. You should catch the pokemon 7/10 tries; however, that doesn't mean you are guaranteed to catch it.

Similarly, even if your odds are only 10% with pokeball, that doesn't mean you won't catch it. Sometimes you get a good "roll" with 10% odds and have success whereas sometimes you get a bad "roll" with 70% and fail. It's all a matter of probabilities.

Hope this makes sense.

Yeah the game totals up your odds to catch the Pokemon and that's your "number."

So if your catch rate is 70%, it makes your # 70

Then it rolls a random number. If that number is below 70, it's caught. If it's above 70, it breaks out.

So you could have ultra + razz + curveball + great throw and have 98% chance to catch a Pokemon, the game rolls a 99, and it breaks out. Then out of frustration you just lob a regular ball with 15% chance to catch, game rolls a 12, and it's caught.

Sure does seem sometimes like switching balls will affect your odds, however....which means that the type of ball you're using could be influencing the random number generated by the game. If I toss 6 ultras and don't get it, I'll drop down to a great or regular ball and give it a whirl.

to sum it all probability is a Bitch.

Very mean one, like getting a high IV mon with very low CP, which I face very often.

and with the best moveset, great IVs, but ... level 1 pokemon. Or the best is when you've got the perfect combo of IVs and level/CP, and you get a totally useless moveset.

RNG is crazy

I think no of balls thrown increase the probability of catching but also increase the flee rate

I don't believe this is the case. The odds are just the odds.

What am saying is a claim at best ,can't support it with numbers or any thing , just something I observed but I am sure that to catch it not catch doesn't depend only on random selected numbers , but other variables goes into equation ( kind of ball , how many times the the Mon break of the ball , ofcurse the berries ) , what am saying it is a punch of variables to give you the chances of a success catch , the values change in every throw
