Would you rather power up...

Snorlax 91% L/HB currently Lv 3.5 (50/117 candy acquired, 119k dust to Lv30)
or
Larvitar 93% hatched (19/191 candy acquired, 75k dust to Lv30)

Currently have 145k dust. Either is going to take a lot of walking.. I think this is a no-brainer but I want to see what others have to say

I personally prefer Snorlax over Tyranitar, but I don't like L/HB moveset. If it's for defense and gym purpose just go ahead with your Larvitar ;-)

I play in the middle of a major city - gyms go down within the hour no matter how well defended, so I've kind of given up on defense/prestiging. (Hopefully anti-spoofing will cut down on this). I just look to take as many gyms in 10 minutes and cash out - so I guess I'm just looking for attackers

i suggest then go for snorlax, is a good lick is a good quick attack in my opinion, will fill the HB bar pretty fast and Larvitar will be a bet of MS pool

First try to get the amount of candy you need, evolve the Larvitar, then decide. Snorlax will be worth it imo, and Tyranitar really depends on the moveset.

According to Gamepress there's 2/6 "A" attacking Tyranitar movesets, you'd put them above the L/HB Snorlax?

Both at level 30, the Snorlax does much better attacking than Bite/Crunch Tyranitar on the GoDex sim. I don't fully trust the sim (dodging etc) but it's a huge difference

I agree with the other guy.. first evolve larvitar and see the attacks.. maybe you don't like them.

Either one is great for walking as you can't go wrong with Snorlax or Larvitar candy, but don't use the candy as you get it, save it up for a mass power up. That way if you find a better one of whatever your buddy is before the mass power up, you can use the candy for that one instead.

Yeah I learned that lesson from lesser Mon, though I'll be shocked if I see another one in the next 335km

No way would I power up that Snorlax from level 3.5. It just costs too much stardust. And Snorlax candy is too valuable to spend on such a low level Snorlax.

lol either, because you will realize how precious dusts are... if you force me to pick one, i would pick the Snorlax just because its more rare to find in the wild. You can find a high IV Larvi any time, especially ur in a big city...

Great point - that's exactly why I put this up for debate

I use Snorlax to melt a couple of Gyarados and mediocre defenders. I really don't get it why people say he's not an attacker. Yes, there are other more efficient mons but he's good. His tankiness allows him to release plenty of HB which melts any unfortunate Pokémon hit by it even when resisted.
