1st one is poliwrath with mud shot and hydropump with CP 1806 / IV. 95.6%
2nd poliwrath with Bubble and hydropump with CP 1399/ IV. 84.4%

Mud shot poliwrath is not very special. Bubble poliwrath makes a very tough defender, especially if you are a high level.

Bubble poliwrath are ranked high on lists for good reason. Don't let it's low cp fool you.

If you have a lot of candy, you may want to wait for ice or submission for charge move.Bubble is what matters though. Hardest hitting quick move in game.

Save your dust for a better one. You will evolve many Poliwrath's with ~90% and A movesets to defensive. Keep with Gyarados or Vaporeon as a atacker and wait for a defensive Wrath ;).

Mudshot poliwrath is useless.
2nd one is quite good but you can wait for better IV. It's quite easy to get a good poliwrath with good moveset since all bubble moveset are very good (50% chance).

And IV is important for this pokemon since it's quite low in CP, additionnal CP lost because of medium IV makes him stay in the dangerous zone of gyms.

I personnally only power up 91%+ Poliwrath with Bubble+Whatever

Agreed...

I just evolved my 91% Poliwag and got Mud Shot/Submission...so sad. No more plans to power up anymore...

It took me 3 mud shots in a row before I got bubble. That's why I don't necessarily agree with others he should aim for a higher IV. It may take him many attempts just for an extra 30 cp.

Bubble poliwrath's are terrible for attacking as the bubble animation takes so long and makes dodging pretty much impossible but great for defending.

Mud shot hydro pump will be a decent attacker but not great defensively.

All 3 of mine have ended up with mud shot. They're decent if not exceptional attackers (both hydro pump and ice shard).

If you've got reasonable stardust I'd powerup the bubble.

Poliwrath is amazing at defending, but it has significantly lower CP per level than other defenders & sadly CP per level is super important for staying in gyms for long periods of time.

I wouldn't power up anything other than 95%+ Poliwrath with Bubble/x and even then I'd do some planning to see how much dust I'd need for other Pokemon.

I'd always power up any Dragonite (yeah it's weak to ice, but it can get to the top of the gym!), Lapras, Snorlax, Exeggutor, Slowbro & even Vaporeon first. Sadly, once you power those up .. you probably have 10 defenders with significantly higher CP than even a 100% Poliwrath will ever get :/

If you don't have enough candy to make 10 of those but you have tons of extra dust, then go ahead and power up a really high IV bubble/x Poliwrath for now .. but it'll probably fall by the wayside later.

I agree on this. When I first started playing the game I loved my 93% Bubble/Pump Poliwrath.

Then i realized that its really useless in this meta. Why ? Well, he is a tremendous defender with that moveset but his low CP makes him ALWAYS first in any gym, so basically where's the purpose on his defensive side ?

It's a shame really, with more CPs Poliwrath could really shine in this game.

He may not live in a big city. Mine has been in a gym from when I was level 26, level 29 now. I've been waiting forever to power him up. Same with a 1700 lapras I put in just to collect coins real quick. I didn't expect it to stay for weeks.

Good poli's are rare where I am. I have caught over 160 and only one was 84%. The rest were worse. Congrats. I would wait for a bubble mon with ice or submission for gyms and use something else for attacking.

Poliwrath and other low CP defenders (i.e. Wigglytuff) are perfectly viable. Just position them in the right gym... not in a high traffic high CP gym, find instead a good composed gym, with strong and well balanced typing, and your poliwrath will stand there for a month. Moreover I'm considering to power my Poliwraths a Wigglytuffs up above lev. 30, if they have a perfect defensive moveset. For me stardust isn't a scarce resource as long as you have the right gym holding strategy.
