CP 2650 and above can stay upper half of a gym here.
Seems Vap did not do a good job holding gyms. But I know I give some mons better considerations: Blissey to a Snor/BS gym, Dnite to a double Blissey gym. Yet Gyrados, Snor and Eggy's are roughly the same conditions.
All mons below have a CP 2900 or higher except for exeggutor and blissey.
Snorlax 1/4 (lowest in gym 2800)
Gyarados 1/1 (lowest in gym 2600)
Rhydon 1/3 (lowest in gym 2800)
Vap 1/5 (lowest in gym 2000)
exeggutor 1/2 (lowest in gym around 2500)
Blissey 1/1 (lowest in gym 2500)
All used as stable gym owners (can hold a gym for a week or more).
and a couple of basic high CP (2900 or above but not ideal for keeping gyms that rotates alot in gyms.
The place I go to near the coast has incredibly inactive gyms. Pretty much everything I put in down there last a week or two and one lasted a month.
Here (in NC) it's not cold enough to dissuade gym activity. Spoofers abound. And it's a college town with 20K in students alone and 15 gyms. Most gyms all turn over within an hour and on pretty days more like every 15 minutes. I'm cool with it all though. There's nothing I like better than tearing down opponent gyms all by my lonesome.

The Dnite when the gyms have very high base CP.
My one Blissy goes in when it is not the bottom.
The Snorlax is my always first choice, they love living in gyms.
The Gyrados are my last go to. Only when I need the CP and my (sw) Dnite is already in a gym.
My high vapes and rhydons are only for drop-ins for gyms with very high turnover. (those are just for fun)
Was able to collect 10 today without leaving the house which doesn't happen often but I usually have 6-8 keepers overnight. What I had in today:

One of the Eggs and the Draggy has been in since before gen 2 came out and 2 levels ago. I'm currently lvl 32.
The gyms around me turn over pretty fast but my wife and I explore around a lot and over time you see which gyms tend to stay and which tend to go, so we take the time to prestige up the ones that tend to stay around.
