Snorlax: Zen Headbutt/Body Slam

Hello guys. I finally got so lucky and hatched a Snorlax with 93.3% iv (15/14/13) and Zen Headbutt/Body Slam moveset. I powered him up untill 2675cp. Hyber Beam is better than Body Slam or they are "equal"?. Thanks.

Depends on who you ask. Both are excellent.

I though this was for Q&A, not bragging.

Hehe its not. I just want to know about Body Slam vs Hyper Beam on snorlaxes.

If you want it for a gym I would go with Body Slam since it's MUCH harder to dodge and predict. Even 6 year olds can dodge Hyper Beam.

Thank You. I didnt know how good is Body Slam cuz this is my first time with luck with a Snorlax. All the snorlaxes i caught in the wild have <50% ivs. So i did the right thing powering him up.

Body slam damage is pretty underwhelming to me. I seem to be the minority though. I'd rather take the chance of them being hit with hyper beam.

Body Slam is hard to dodge and still high STAB damage. I guess anyone can easily dodge Hyper Beam actually but if not you die.

Not that high. Just fought a 2300 snorlax with body slam with a 2300 exeggutor no dodging and won.

I realize Zen headbutt doesn't help the situation, but I would think a snorlax would win :/

Thanks. I had no luck with Snorlaxes since i start playing the game. I caught like 10 in the wild and all with ~50% ivs (except one with 82.2% but offensive moveset). Feeling so great now with this fatty Halloween gift. Now im ok with two great defenders (Lapras 2493cp Ice Shard/ Blizzard and this Snorlax).

It's hard to say, none of them is strictly better than the other. Both have their strengths and weaknesses. I would consider them somewhat equal.

Just like people said, Body Slam is harder to dodge for some people and because of that you could argue that it's better than Hyper Beam, but if for whatever reason you miss dodging Hyper Beam, it's over. Maybe it's raining and your screen isn't very responsive, maybe your hands are a bit swetty, maybe you get a tiny lagspike just when you need to dodge. Anything can happen.

Also, if you are used to attacking a lot of Body Slams, you shouldn't have too much trouble dodging it. One thing people also tend to overlook is that when they see the Hyper Beam animation they stop doing damage and just get ready to dodge, you are actually losing a lot of damage during that time, and you still might end up missing the dodge.

For all these reasons I would really call both moves equal and in the end it depends on who's attacking the gym.

Hyper Beam makes a little more damage, but Body Slam is much harder to dodge. I consider this moveset the best defensive one for Snorlax.
