Good meta for evolving Magikarp, Machop and/or Rhyhorn?
Except the "save your candy for future events thing" I wondered whether it is a good meta for evolving Magikarp, Machop or Rhyhorn.
Considering the moveset situation you can no longer get a very, very bad Gyarados. I only evolved one yet and got Bite/Twister (98%) and I really don't need that disappointment again. Is there another really bad moveset now or is it kind of "save" to evolve Magikarp (93%, 645c) now?
Are there any really bad movesets for any of these mon so that I should wait to evolve them? For example, I do not want to risk my rare Rhyhorn (87%, 77c) candies for a terrible move set. I'd rather wait then. Same for Exeggcute (no good IV, 89c) or Growlithe(82%, 62c)?
Machop is a different situation since the nearby cluster nest turned into Machop. So candy is not a problem (good IVs are rare, though). But what are the chances of getting a good moveset? Or else: is there a chance that I get a really bad moveset which might vanish later lite twister?
I currently got 93%, 84% and 87-89% as best IVs for Machop and 336 candies. Is <90% worth evolving? Or should I just evolve the lv26/27 ones in hope for a good moveset not caring but the IVs?
Since I have definitely bad luck with movesets I'm really concerned about wasting my rare candies and/or good IVs for really bad movesets - going to get a bad one anyway :D but slightly butter than shit would be nice. I'm focused on attack here since I'm only Lv27 and only my Dragonite has a chance to stay in a gym for longer anyway.
Thanks for reading - accumulated more questions in that one than intended.
Question of belief: Do you believe there will be moveset changes before a possible easter event? (Planing to wait with evolving until then).

One by one:
1) Magikarp
His true era has yet to come. As long as Gyarados cannot learn a STAB quick move, we should save Magikarp for the future in case he would.
2) Machop
Yes, this is a perfect time. Try to get a C/DP Machamp. I envy so much that you have a high-quality Machop nest.
3) Rhydon
No. Best move set (MS+SE) is still 67.5% offensively compared to Gengar/Dnite (which means that even with x1.25 SE, he still sucks). In defense? You are so adorable.
Reads like Rhydon sucks anyway right now so I'll wait with that one. Is Growlithe like Rhydon then since it is not as good as Flareon? What about Exeggcute?
But do Gyarados moves all perform quite good? How much difference would a stab quick move make?
Thank you for your quick response and yes I really like that nest too. Gonna catch them all now :D
RK9 was once the King of Fire but now this honor is taken away by Flareon. So save Growlithe as well.
Exeggutor, finally, has double Grass moves. I power my Bullet Seed/Solar Beam Exeggutor all the way up. Trust me, he performs exceptionally when fighting Vapes and Rhydons. He turns whatever is weak or double-weak to Grass into coconuts.
Gyarados does not have "bad" moves, yet still, he has not much of use. I barely use my Gyarados except he's picked up by auto-selection annoyingly. He has few good matchups. I (as well as many) would want a WG/HP Gyarados, to serve as a pure water attacker.

Added: I should mention that a DT/O Gyarados could be of some use in defense. This Gyarados punishes Jolteon harder.
It's just my opinion but I have the fact to back this up, I think extrasensory still does more damage than bullet seed even if the mon you're attacking is weak to grass because in PoGO "super effective" only means 1.2x damage and even if the mon is golem or rhydon which has double weakness to grass, the damage multiplier is only 1.44x. Extrasensory deals 1.5x the dps of bullet seed so exeggutor with bullet seed is not worth powering up at all. Even if you take EPS generated into account, the advantage bullet seed has over extrasensory in EPS is just not enough compensation for it's lack of dps. I have 4 exeggutor with 87%-91% IV all with confusion and solar beam (legacy, but best defensive moveset and dps-wise) and those are the only exeggutors I've been powering up
I think machop is worth evolving into machamp now since counter + dynamic punch or close combat are super strong fighting-type movesets, just pray that your machamp doesn't get bullet punch or heavy slam. You live near a machop nest so you might as well get your machamp and if it didn't get counter + DP or CC you could just go back to that nest anyway. I'm lvl 32 and 130 machop candies are all I've got jeez I envy you. About gyarados I think dragon tail + outrage is good to attack dragonite while gyarados with hydro pump is still a good general attacker, but then again 400 magikarp candies are no cheap cost. About rhydon just get 1 if you have excessive candies and really want 1, pray it doesn't get megahorn then wait for gen 4 when rhyperior comes out. Please also note niantic guy said "save your candies" so let's just evolve pidgeys and rattatas for now and be prepared for the upcoming candy-related event!
Well, I just evolved three. And here is what I got:
84% (10Att, 15Def, 13Hp) Lvl 25, C/HeSl 2011Cp
93% (14Att, 13Def, 15Hp) Lvl20, BP/DP 1635Cp
69% (15Att, 3Def, 13Hp) Lvl 25, C/DP 1982Cp
Awesome :). I'll catch more anyway and still have 183 candies left. A little bit sad that the high IVs didn't get the good move but super happy for C/CP.
Is BP/DP good for anything? The Machamp side isn't updated so I cannot look it up.
For your reference http://pogomoves.com/check.php?pkmn=Machamp&basic=Counter&charge=Dynamic%20Punch but man, tbh it bugged me that you actually wasted 125 candies on 69% IV machop since the species is quite rare in my region. I can't blame you if machop is super common in that nest you mentioned though. I only have around 130 machop candies and haven't evolved my 89% IV 835 CP machop. Take a look at the reference site above, BP+DP only deals 84.66% the dps of C+DP (best moveset) on gym offense. On the brighter side, that moveset is still better than karate+cross chop (the best legacy moveset) and it is actually the second-best gym-defending moveset. I'm not sure about putting a machamp as a defender though since strong psychic attackers are common: espeon, alakazam, exeggutor.
I can get ~ 20 Machoke / per hour at the nest and all the other active players in the city, too. There 6 cluster spawns around a lake in the middle of the city.
So seems like everyone got at least one Machamp now. In two weeks Snorlax and Blissey are no longer viable here :D and I really appreciate this since I do not have a Snorlax or even a Chansey. The other very present Gym mon here is Gyarados but my Jolteons take that for dinner.
The town is already quite competitive but soon no gym will be able to sustain :D
To me the save the candy was referring to a potential double XP event, IMO its gonna be Easter. Nobody really knows, its possible there is new different type of event. Im personally only evolving attackers and defenders as needed and not doing any mass evolutions until a double XP event.
For attackers Id always go with high level and not worry about IVs they are almost irrelevant in battle. The gap between 50% and 90% is barely noticeable on video side by side. On the other hand stardust is rare unless your running 9 incubators 24-7.
My prediction is we dont see any more major moveset changes till Gen 3 later this year which is prolly when they will do the major Gym changes. Undoubtedly many prized pokemon today will be useless at that time. Definitely good idea to be very selective in what you are powering up. But this is all hearsay and I dont have any credible evidence to support this except common sense.
If there will ever be a good time for you to evolve Machops, it's now. Machamp is verry good vs Blissey and Snorlax. And he has good moves now to. You want CC/DP or CC/C (DP is slightly better but C gets the job done aswell)
And you have a goos nest so if you don't end up with one of those movesets you can just go and collect more candy ?
