Pidgeot/Butterfree/Beedrill - Evolve them or take the XP?

I no longer have lucky eggs (L27, used 'em all, no more 'til L30)

Should I evolve my Caterpie/Weedle/Pidgey to Metapod/Kakuna/Pidgeotto, take the 500XP and transfer?

Or, should I fully evolve them to Butterfree/Beedrill/Pidgeot and battle with 'em until the feint, then transfer, slowing the XP gain?

Assume I already have one good Pidgeot with AS/Hurricane.

I would just do bulk evolve of the lower evolution personally...at least until lvl30.
I might rethink it after lvl30 - but until lvl30 then I would go for max xp.

Just my opinion anyway.

Level 27-30 no Lucky Eggs is a long road. I think you'd be better off evolving as many pre-evolutions as you can then transferring, especially since you plan on transferring their fully evolved forms anyway

Take at least one gym per day while you save all your catches and candies, buy a lucky egg, evolve all the "crap", repeat the process until you get to level 30.

All my coins go to incubators...

Still at default Pokemon and Item storage.

Can I ask you the reason why you spend all coins on incubators? I started doing that at a higher level when I was at 32 or so, but at level 27 I find it too early to do this.

Incubators won't get you anything rare a part from some 10k eggs, 95% of eggs you will hatch will be trash so why don't get some lucky eggs? and item storage? more items = more gyms you can take = more mon you can catch = more coins and dust you can get per day.

Anyway, even if you don't have lucky eggs, the most efficient way to get more xp is to just evolve those mon to their first form and transfer them right away until you get more and keep doing that.

I want some mons I can only get around here in 10km eggs.

So, I use my infinity incubator on 2k eggs.
I would toss 5k eggs if I could, but I use the incubators on 5k and 10k because if you have 9 eggs, the pokestops won't give you any more. So, I have to burn through the 5k eggs to get more 10k.

Pidgeot can be a niche prestiger with a double flying moveset. The other two are just crap.

Depends where you are in the level and how fast you advance. I have weeks till I'll be anywhere near the next level (Currently 1.09 Mio of 2.5 Mio of Lvl. 37), I save all Pidgey Rattata et. al. candy in case there is another double XP event.

Eventually you'll need a lot of stardust to power up your mons. A fast levelling up will not help you in this sense. Additionally with gen 2 throw bonuses you can easily gather xp while catching mons. For info i got from lvl 27 to 28 in 2 weeks. During that time, I gather enough stardust to power my dragonite from lvl 22 to lvl 28, among others power up such gyrados, jolteon etc. Remaining stardust: 70k.

Like this answer - thinking about it, the restricting factor in my power isn't level/XP - it's the power of my pokemon. Finding better ones and being able to power them up.

At L27, my nearly maxed out Snorlax/Vape/Blissey have enough CP to stay in any local gym as a defender without serious danger of being churned out by someone with higher CP.

I can't hold more than 3 gyms because none of my other mons have high enough CP to be a viable defender (and there are high IV Snorlax and Blissey in there, just low-level)

At L27, I can find L27 pokemon, nearly as good as L30.

Lucky eggs won't help power up my pokemon... They won't help me find new ones... Incubators will, because they give me rare mons and rare mon candies.
