Power up either of these Gyarados?

After recent Florida trip and gathering 550-600 Karp candies in a weeks time I evolved two Gyarados.

1218, 100 IV, Bite/Pump
1870, 98 IV, Bite/Outrage

I already have a 100 IV Bite/Pump maxed out to level 34.5 and have 138 candies left. I was really hoping to get one with Dragon Tail, but no such luck. Both seem pretty redundant as attackers to the one I already have and are considerably worse on defense to one with Dragon Tail...

Slow grind candies back in the Midwest and try again in a couple months or say screw it and power one up?

Bite/HP Gyarados will always be a strong attacker and will hold high places in gyms. I don't really need more attackers but I always try to power up 'mon that can go higher than 3,000cp because they take better spots in gyms.

I hear ya, my gym scene not super competitive for CP slots though. I think I've stuck my Bite/Pump in a gym once and that's when I ran out of defenders.

Was really hoping for Dragon Tail! Ugh!

I'm really leaning towards just leaving them be unless all of sudden it becomes a pressing issue.

If you don't need more 'mon for gyms then most likely you won't need to power this one up. My gym scene is cutthroat and that's why I am still pursuing a roster of 3,000+ 'mon. Sub-3000 'mon get shaved off pretty quickly around here.

I hear ya, the gym scene I saw last week saw my 2902 Snorlax get shaved from a gym!
