Steel Wing Hyper Beam Dragonite Question

My question is -- Why? Why. :(

So sad when candies take so long to collect. Finally evolved my second Dragonite ever (started playing in July) and was hoping for anything with Dragon Tail... Sigh.

Anyone else feel like venting?

All four of my Dragonites (evolved, not caught) have gotten Steel Wing.

Sorry duder ... SW/HB is really unfortunate. I was so excited to catch a 98 IV Dratini in the wild in November, and I evolved it right away. Lo and behold, Steel Wing Hyper Beam'd. I still powered him up to the max and stuck him in a gym, but it's always disappointing to get the worst moveset for any valuable pokemon.

My first and only Dragonite after 6 months of gameplay, least it looks like the second won't take quite as long. ?

I've only got 1 Dragonite after so long to get it and it has this move set. The question though is how is it compared to other mons? I use it and it does surprisingly well. So yes it may be the worst moveset for a Dragonite but will it still perform better than other mons?

I've honestly never used mine once out of pure shame.

3 of 4 Dragonites I evolved came out with that moveset, so I definitely feel you :/ I powered them to 3k and my last one finally had DB-HB, I evolved it like 2 days before it gut removed. Also the last Dratini I caught, that I needed to evolve was actually a D-nite with 16% but 2,6k and DB-DC. So patience pays off I guess :)

My one and only evolved to SW/DP - "A" rated defensive moves at the time, and he did earn a lot of coins. He has since come back home and I've used a few times, seems to do OK but not amazing like ppl write about DB/DC. OTOH, I prestige way more than I attack so he's not really that useful to me except to stick high up in a stable tower... I'm about ready for try #2 with 144 candies, just want a 90% IV candidate.

I've been playing since the beginning of the game. My first Dragonite took about 4 months. SW/HB. The second one I literally walked off 98 candy! SW/DC. SW/DC is a bit more viable now, but it was second only to SW/HB in the shit list of movesets until very recently. My 3rd dragonite fell into my lay by virtue of 3 back-to-back hatched Dratinis at the inception of Gen2. DT/Hur. Not quite the best moveset, but after owning the two worst movesets for Dragonite since the game began I'll be happy with it.

Let's hope the same crap doesn't happen when I finally walk 90 more candies for my Tyranitaur

Edit: I do live in Tampa, FL so I luckily have Hercross' coming out of the walls. It's no substitute for a good dragonite, but I don't take it for granted either. Took 23 wild Heracross before I finally got a 75% Counter/Counterstrike

Hope this makes you feel better. This was my most recent Dragonite evolve a week ago. I'm still recovering from this emotionally.

:/ I've also never gotten MS/Eq on Golem or Rhydon. We're on the same boat.

I feel for everyone on this thread. I thought I had it bad. I have two Dragonites, DB/HB and DT/HB. Pleased to get a DTer, but still pretty gutted to have two HBers.

I think I speak for us all when I say the next update should be some form of move retraining.

I think the may use TM like the main game series, but in this case, we can buy them in the store.
