DB/DC is still exceptionally valuable, and it is contestable as the best offensive moveset.

It is still ranked highly on the page (following all dragon tail movesets). However, if you use dodging when you attack a gym, you bet your sweet ass DB/DC shines. No other charge moves lets you easily weave and use it like DC. DT/OR is better if you don't dodge every move.

Oh good maybe when trading comes out I can trick some sucker into trading me his DB Dragonite for a DT one.

DB/DC finally underrated ...

GP analysis is true if fighting Blissey /bs lax and time is also a sacred resource.
But if i am trying to kill various Vap, i think db/dc can kill the most before it faints.

DT + Outrage is kind of an OP moveset. Against a Body Slam Snorlax I definitely want DB-DC, but against Blissey DT/O just melts her down so fast.

DT/O is just better than DB/DC. Its a shame you can't get a DB/O. That'd be badass

Sorry you don't have one, you're missing out. I've got a DT/O and DB/DC and they're both fantastic in their own way

Seriously, is that a tinge of bitter disappointment in your voice? Sounds to me like you're trying to convince yourself more than anyone else... :D

Sounds like you've never drove a DB/DC. If you have then you would know that it's way underrated. DT/HB above DB/DC is ludicrous IMO. DB/DC is a gym wrecker and most efficient attack move set because you can take down 4-5 mons. I've taken down up to 7 weaker mons a few times in gyms.

DB/DC has always been incredibly overrated for me personally. I prefer HB > BS and HB> DC. I obtained a DB/DC after many failed tries and launching the quick move 3 times is incredibly annoying. I like launching HB on Nite and Snorlax and melting the defender w/ DB saving the HB for the next defender. It all comes down to personal preference between DT and DB, but make no mistake Outrage is by far the best Nite charge move. I'll try for one soon..

I think Legacy moves that are still relevant would have been nice for longtime players that have vested. It unfairly levels playing field in that regard.

I'm pretty sure Gamepress' analysis here is based on single matchups, and how quickly the dragonite kills its opponent. It's not necessarily an evaluation of the best sweeper, a title which still belongs to DB-DC Dragonite. DT/O does ridiculous amount of damage, and it's a great moveset. Easily the best moveset for any individual battle.

In the end, it doesn't really matter.

Future updates will continue to affect the battle scene. Heavily investing in any particular Pokemon comes with no guaranteed long-term value. Even a DT+O Dragonite may, someday, become sub-optimal without warning.

I personally will no longer give a shit about this aspect of the game unless we can somehow customize our Pokemon's moves by way of breeding, TMs, or re-rolling. For now, I'm just a casual player who opens PoGO once in a while to check if there are new Pokemon nearby.

I have both movesets and I still prefer DB/DC. It just allows you to attack nonstop and still being able to dodge Aqua Tail, Stone Edge etc. This way you take less damage and are able to sweep through level 10 gyms. In the end it comes down to personal preference as always.

I have to say that I am pretty shocked that the analysis came back this way. I was pretty well convinced after seeing the YouTube simulations and trying them out in friend's accounts that DB/ DC would come back as the clear winner .

There are so many implications and questions that this brings up and I simply don't want to write an essay at this point. I think the salient points are:

1) GP seems to agree with niantic that dragonites should be used similar to a zh/p exeggutor (the old two bar psychic, that is...) niantic has incentivized this by making the damage output ridiculously high. Gp rated it higher because the analysis must have shown that using dragonite this way with the new move set is optimal.

2) the new move sets across the board seem to generally encourage a slower rhythmic style of battling over the way that we all have become accustomed to doing it: spam, spam, dodge. I have to admit that as good as I was at using zh, I kept leaning more and more on venusaurs as time went on because of the vine whip. Time to adjust.

The snarky tone of the original post seems baffling to me. I was one of the many not fortunate enough to roll one prior to the update (5 SW and 2 DB- one pulse and one beam... both downgraded now to C) and I don't hate on anyone for being luckier than me nor take any joy in someone else's fortune being taken from them...

I, for one, still want a DB/ DC and will try to acquire one when trading happens. Even if it continues to get downgraded as the game meta changes, I still want it as the original uber mon and the warm memories that come with it...
