Gym stagnation due to lack of potions?
I am always running out of potions, so find it difficult to keep taking down enemy gym. Because of this there have been quite a few gyms near me hat have stayed the same team for months.
I never have an issue with poke balls, yet potions are always at a premium. Does anyone else have the same problem?

I would love trading - not trading pokemon, but trading balls, revives, potions for pokecoins. Player to Player, Niantic could get 25% of each transaction - does not matter.
I would sell my normal balls to pokemon-plus users, i would get my potions from all these only collectors....
There would be another possibility to get Pokecoins without controlling gyms.
Why do not they implement this? I think, they could make real money.
[Edit] Thump down? I am curious why you do not like this proposal. Which problems do you see?
Well to be failr, the reason why I rather stock up on pokeballs is because most weekends I go to a smaller town which has better spawns but much less pokestops, and I'm driving most of the time, so I can't replenish my stock while there, and on weekday I walk everywhere, that plus the fact that I haven't upgraded items storage make me prefer having a large stock of pokeballs than of potions.
Maybe, but my problem is moreso the effort v reward. Mystic has taken over as a dominant team, and whenever I solo a level 10 gym of theirs it's back to level 7 or 8 by the next day.
If allies on your team aren't helping the cause, while members of the dominant team are helping each other take down gyms ASAP and prestiging them up - running out of potions is a certainty and you're getting very little in return for all of that time.
Yes, same problem. I would like to take down two or three 10er Gyms each week, but this means more than 100 battles, more than 50 big potions.
I have to throw balls (and bananas) away and go by bike spinning pokestops at high frequency. I am happy about each potion i get, even the smallest ones. The potions limit my gym-activity.
Revives are not so bad - my attackers rarely die, and often i prestige with one-time-pokemon from mass evolution. Revives are mostly needed for pokemons i get back after my gyms are taken.
No. I always try to keep the normal potion (20 HP) I find, I like to keep at least 100 of them. It keep a lot of my bag full (700 only), but I never have a lot of pokeballs, when I need space I just throw them away. When I attack a gym, I use this potions on all my attackers (I like to use low HP mon to attack, just to save potions) and when there are no more purple potions, If I still need any, I use the better ones. When my defenders faint I like to use max revive on snorlax and vapes, and I will use them on blissey when I have a good one.
Totally area dependent. I see screenshots of towns littered with pokestops as far as the eye can see. I doubt players in those areas run low on anything.
Mine is on the left, there are zero stops looking any direction on the horizon. I have run out of items often, including pokeballs. I only catch pidgeys(for mass evolve) and gym relevant mons to save balls.
Yeah - I had been throwing away the low tier potions. But one level 10 gym, and I'm hurting for pots; while I was on gym battling break during the coldest parts of winter (there are no gyms near me that can be reached from public buildings), I stocked up on max potions - wound up throwing away some hyper potions, and so regretting it now. Revives too - the first time I tried battling after gen2, I went through my entire stock of 50 revives in a single level 10 gym because I wasn't used to the charge move timing.
I really despise the behavior when one's bag is full. I would like to get my exp, and get a chance at an egg (and have the stop turn purple like I'd spun it), so I don't have to trash items I want to keep just to get eggs.
The answer is simply you don't go waste all your time and potions on every enemy gym you see...or any...I honestly don't attack many rival gyms unless it's my normal route or my team is in those gyms normally....
The reason you see stagnation is because attacking gyms have always been a waste of time compared to the exp you get and any benefits honestly...
Also, attacking rival level 10 towers in rival territories is just asking to waste more time since there are simply TOO few gym spots compared to trainers so if I ever see a normal level 10 tower with a free spot, I'm there instantly if I'm on my work route at that time...
When you tear down a level 10, 10 players built it and the 1st 7 players spent less than 5 minutes each to get their spot...
I tend to get the last spots so always prestige 8-10k each time, but it still only takes 10 minutes normally...
Attacking constantly with low rewards is just a waste of time for you IMO. You need to probably just find where your team regularly build and hold gyms, and prestige there.
I actually would like them to limit potions and revives since gym battling has always been easy and making it harder is a good thing IMO.
If you're in a rural area, everyone you play with are also rural so they are in the same situation (unless they spoof)...
I tear down gyms I see from my house daily and it takes potions, but I spin a lot on my work route / work area so can restock a little daily...
You sound like a very efficient and calculated player. That's great and you probably have more success than most. What you're not considering is the aspect of fun. These people that want to fight these gyms are probably just wanting to have fun but are limited by a drought of items that allow them to do so. Maybe it's worth their time to spend a half hour or so taking down a gym knowing that 10 or so people will have to spend 5-10 minutes each not including travel time powering it back up. I'd call that a win, especially if you're having fun doing it.
