Dragonite with Steel Wing / Outrage

I'm very unlucky about hatching 10 km eggs (lvl 34, 1 snorlax, 1 lapras, 2 dratinis - compared with a friend, that's not cool and i've already hatched a TOTAL of 779 eggs, including all km...).

Well, the introduction above is to justify my answer. Considering the difficulty to find dratinis candies (my buddy is already a dragonite), should i power up that dragonite with SW/outrage?
It was found on the wild (dratini) at level 30 and IV of ~80%, CP after evolution of about 2850.

My other dragonites are:
- a good IV SW/DC CP 2331
- a poor IV (22%) found in the wild with DB/DP CP 1474.

I found a Dratini not too long ago at level 27 (cp651, 91.1%) and evolved it to my first Dragonite about a week ago. It got the same moveset. I've powered it up since and don't regret it. I was hoping for Dragon Tail, but I'm satisfied with it regardless. If I were you I'd do it

Thanks!
It will take a long time to find another one, with possibility of bad movesets.
I guess you are right.

Something doesn't look right. a level 30 dragonite with ~80% IV will have approximately CP 3000 or above.

My IV 64 at lvl 30 has 2941 CP.

Anyway, if it truly is at level 30, I wouldn't power it up further. You can already use it as it is.

That depends on how the IV is distributed.

The ATT IV has the biggest effect on resulting CP. If this is the lower IV then it wont be able to achieve as high a max CP as say an ATT IV with the max of 15.

Dratini CP 695, HP 69, power up 5000
Apraisal (instinct): really strong / HP / really strong.
I had the print of dratini befone evolve it.

Now dragonite is CO 3032, HP 143, power up 6000
(yes, i powered it up... Now without candies)

Recently evolved my 100% Dratini and got SW/Rage also. Initial reaction was disappointment, since I was conditioned already to think of SW as the slow defensive move pre-update. But after looking at the new numbers and actually testing him out in a gym, I think I got lucky! Dragon Tail is slower and hits harder so that's the new best defensive quick move. SW is faster now at 0.80s so you can strike twice before having to dodge. Outrage dishes out a ton of damage; two bars of 110 each! The new defender/attacker lists aren't out yet, but I'm pretty sure Outrage will be the top move on both offense/defense. And DT for defense, SW for offense. So basically having SW/Rage means you have an "A" attacker, and a "B" defender. I'll take that combo any day. The key ingredient post-update is having Outrage no matter what.

I wouldn't complain with SW/OR - Power that dragon up and use for either ATT or DEF. It's a top mon any day of the week!
