Alakazam a good attacker?

Is alakazam a good attacker into blissey? I have one with 13/14/14 IV's and confusion and psychic and it's almost maxed out so I'm wondering if I should max him out to take on blissey. My exeg can take on blissey but I need another blissey fighter in my team for multiples in the same gym.
Psychic is now a legacy move and he only has 1 psychic charge move now so I think im lucky to have this moveset but do you guys have any knowledge on whether he can fight blissey?

It's only useful as a 'let me kamikaze this Blissey by taking as much health away as possible' pokemon. Kind of the same as Flareon, Gengar etc. It's not going to Survive, but will deplete a lot of Blissey's health for your next pokemon to finish it.

  1. Unfortunately C/Psy is actually one of its worst movesets now.
  2. The best moveset for attacking with Alakazam (needn't even say this because who the hell uses Alakazam for defense, but hey) is Psycho cut/Future sight. Confusion/psychic is really bad compared to it: while confusion is very good dps theoretically, you won't be dodging much using it, which makes it a very bad thing for Alakazam who is very squishy to begin with. Also Psychic is worse in possible way compared to Future sight.
  3. To fight blisseys/snorlaxes you want Machamp with Counter/Dynamic Punch. < BY FAR the best pokemon to use against blissey/snorlax/lapras.

Thanks for the input! Will focus efforts on a machamp then as another blissey fighter alongside my exeg.
Can that alakazam be used for defense then? It has high cp and confusion charges the bar fast. I'm trying to find a use for it somewhere.

People will tell you that he is no good as a defender, but I think there is a place for him in higher-level diversified gyms, if his CP level will allow him to have a middle position in gyms in your area. I have an Alakazam with the same moveset (C/P), and he has earned a lot of pokecoins for me sitting in gyms.

Before the change in move stats, I put my Alakazam in a gym and prestiged against it with similar CP attackers, to see how well it defended. I kept my attackers just below the Alakazam's CP, so as to gain at least 500 prestige. I also tried to pick matchups that would be strong against Alakazam. What I found was that he could be beaten relatively quickly and easily, but he dished out a lot of damage on his way down. If he is helping to defend a level 8-10 gym against a team of six, and if he can sap 70-80% of the HP of one of the attackers, I'd say he has done his job.

Edit: I haven't tested him out as a defender since the change to Psychic, and he probably isn't as good now, but I still use him in that role.

Nope, just a useless glass cannon that will be killed soon; Machamp, Tyrantiar, Dragonite and other Pokémon (except for Gengar) will perform better.

Be aware of Dazzling Gleam, because it hits Dark/Fighting/Dragon all with a super effective damage.

I suppose you have all the pokemons you enumerated? I certainly don't have them all.

Good only against a ZH/Psychic Blissey.

Will resist its weak non stab psychic attacks.

Hyper beam or dazzling gleam will squash you.
