Critical Catch

There are not too many talks and research into Critical Catch. Does everyone think it's just random? No one cares how it works or gets triggered?

Reasearch is being conducted, but there is so much other info being researched that critical catch isnt high priority. Also, so far critical catch seems completely random as there has been no evidence to suggest otherwise, or at least that i know of. Not even anectodal evidence.

No, no one cares. It's sad.

Does it make any difference? I noticed it once but got the same dust and candies.

I, for one, would really care. If it's a type of mechanics, imagine the number of balls that can be saved. Also, then regular, great and ultra balls wouldn't matter if it's triggered by throwing mechanics.

They are so rare, it is near impossible to get a reliable data set to analyse.
I am not sure how anyone could collect reliable data, without trolls ruining the effort.

From what I know from looking at the IV app and playing pokemon go at the same time (two phones), I notice that a pokemon is determined whether it is caught or not caught at the moment it is hit by the ball, as I can see that pokemon is added into my bag immediately from the IV app. What I can think of is, critical catch doesn't relate to the catch rate, instead the game will randomly determine whether you will get critical catch or normal catch.

Critical catch is where the pokemon really did not like the way it was caught and is therefore critical of the trainer for their method.
