What is the Pokemon day event?

All Niantic has said is that Pikachu with have a party hat. Now that the event has started, has anyone noticed anything else happening or is the party hat all we get?

Nothing. Its just Pikachu with a dumb hat.

Although once the actual Pokémon Day get here it might be something extra but who knows.

Go out and hunt that high IV stupid hat Pikachu for a nice trophy

There is no increase in pikachu spawns. Any pikachu you find will have a hat, if u dont see pikachu that is normal.

Nothing, just pikachu with an extra stupid hat, because they are just using Pokemon to make money, like they give a f0ck about the actual Pokemon anniversary.

While it is true that it is just another useless Pikachu form, I think this one might be more "exclusive" than the Santa Pikachu, the event has started around 8 hours ago and I still have not managed to see a single one on my nearby, with the other Pikachu I got like 20 or 30 per day without even trying to get them.

I don't know if as the week goes along spawns will increase but at least I will try to get one, just to have it as a trophy ;).

Also remember to save your candies, there are news that a double XP event is coming soon.

No...there is news that you need to save your candy.
There is unfounded speculation that it means dbl XP is coming. It may well be dbl XP, but that is just a guess...the news is just 'save your candy'

Niantic...believe it or not we actually got some kind of communication from Niantic.

After winning an award for the 'best game' or something, one employee says thanks for the award, and another looks at the camera and say 'save your candys'...with a thumbs up.

Reversal and Trainer Tips both have the actual footage if you want to see it (I am sure it is elsewhere too)...and then they just guess as to what it means.

It's just speculation. "Save your candies" could have been taken out of context and spinned to mean anything. It could mean Easter event, or even the 1 year launch anniversary of Pokémon go. We don't know until it's concrete evidence.

Remember Reversal and TrainerTips makes their money from ADS and clicks so the more catch titles and thumbnails they have in their YouTube videos the more money they make with visitor traffic.

I wouldn't class either of them as click-baiters, but they can be prone to jumping to conclusions and speculation.
They are both good at keeping players informed, but for me sometimes there is a little too much 'editorial license' taken when speculating.

Informing us that posters were placed in a Mall in Germany specifically mentioning a date and mentioning Gen2 - that is news....but jumping from 'save your candies' to 'dbl xp is coming', starts looking like click bait when it happens too often.

Anyway...we have gone way off topic now
