Blissey Dilemma

I was fortunate enough to have a perfect IV Chansey when gen 2 dropped. I evolved this straight away and got a 1379 CP Blissey with Pound/Hyper Beam.

My original plan was to max this one out once I had walked enough with it but now I've got the understanding that this isn't a great moveset and am on the fence about powering this Blissey up or evolving another Chansey I have. It has 1167 CP with 84% IVs (15/15/8) so max CP will still be pretty close.

I am level 30 and currently have 92 candies and 800k+ dust. If you can comment what you would do I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks & good luck hunting!

Blissey's main value is obviously as a gym defender, and pound/HB is arguably the worst moveset for that purpose -- provided that your other Chansey has 15 attack IV the maximum CP will be very very close to your evolved Blissey, so I would pull the trigger on another evolution and hope for a better moveset -- really anything with ZH will suffice.

You may the most downvoted guy on this site, Congrats, lmao.

Blissey P/HB > Lax any gen 2 moveset. Theres not much else to say.

I would max the 100% for sure.

One, it's not a bad moveset. Two, Blisseys strength is not really in its moveset anyway, but in its stats. And three, Niantic can change the strength of different moves at any time - but they won't change your mons IV percentage.

You're really lucky to have a 100% Blissey. Max it out.

On top of these reasons, that blissey will sit higher than any other blossey when maxed out

Imo you should ask yourself how many blissey defenders you ultimately want to have. If just one with best def moveset, roll the dice again. If more than one (where not all need perfect movesets b/c blissey will be one of the best defenders regardless on account of its mere bulk), i would power up this one to a decent level and put it into action while walking for the next one. I did...

I would've already powered this to maximum. Moveset on Blissey doesn't really matter anyhow

I would stay with this one, simply because chansey is quite rare and you will have a hard time gathering another ~40 candies to powering him up till level 30

A bad moveset Blissey is still a better defender than every other mon you own

This is a no-brainer, max the P/HB Blissey!!! Here is why: defense is all about CP so you have that made, and you can use your candies to power up now; but even better, posters over on Silph Road are showing that P/HB Blissey is also a premier attacker (and only this moveset can be used this way). You scored huge.

Well said. This is a great moveset to have on a Blissey and it serves as an awesome attacker that has served me well in gyms. It will be extremely strong on Defense as well. To each their own, but this is easily my preferred moveset. Congrats on having an awesome mon!

I would choose the second one. I don't know exactly how high your 2nd Blissey will be, but I'm sure it will save you a lot of stardust and candy when powering up, also give you a chance to have a better moveset, and above all you can use it right away.
Anyway, your two Blissies are what people dream about and two is always better than one.
Goodluck.

As I've mention in other posts, I honestly don't think/care much for defensive movesets in gyms since CP is all that matters now.

Yes, ZH/DG is the best, but ultimately, moves matter more for attackers and with the boost to all attackers, any Blissey defender is pretty easy to take down now anyways so "wasting" another 49 candies to evolve another without enough CP to max it is not a good place to be. Like someone else mentioned, unlike Snorlax, you need candies to evolve it so since you've already used 50 to evolve this one, I'd save the 50 on evolving another and just power this one up. 2 low CP Blisseys are pretty useless IMO. They won't stop anyone and won't help you in gyms to get star dust (invaluable for any high level player) and coins.

I've maxed 2 Blisseys with sub par movesets and am still sitting on over 150+ candies to max them both all the way to 37...Much better than getting 2 Blisseys with very low CP and not usable at all in gyms IMO (mine are both over 2900+ now).

If you already have 10+ gym defenders which are better, then you can wait for a better one I guess, but it being 100% means you won't find another better ever with better stats...

Any units that suffers from a hyper beam means that they need to dodge it or die, having them wasting time charging their charge moves but cannot use it as often, meaning a higher chance of the attacker timing out.

Secondly, it turned out that those pokemons that are good at attacking are psychic types - Exegguter with solar beam / seed bomb, Espeon that is high in cp with a good moveset, and any Alakazam can dish out enough damage, are resistant to psychic type attacks, making the original non stab move even worst. Zen headbutt for Blissey is fine, but Psychic as a charge move therefore, is the most sucky move a Blissey can get.

For Dazzling Gleam and Hyper Beam, both of them have their use. It hurts psychic pokemons if the blissey got Dazzing Gleam. Despite without stab it is still very powerful as a defending moveset because of its powerful damage and the energy that it takes for it to charge it. For Hyper Beam, any pokemon who are caught offguard will suffer a leathal death. So for these two movesets, either one is good and is up to personal preference on which one suits them more,

Even with the worst moveset, however, a blissey will outdo a snorlax anyways, and other defending pokemons. It seems that it has, at least in my area, blissey is becoming a norm for gym defenders.

Like others have said, Niantic could change moves/damage etc. at ANY time. But your 100% perfect Blissey will always be 100% and sit higher than any other non 100% Blissey.

Blissey is a beast of a Tank. I have two 89% Pound/HB Blisseys that I maxed out for my level and I'm happy with them. They sit at 2900-2915. I'd do it again in a heart beat. They get STAB bonus and you HAVE to dodge HB. If you don't you are done. Dodging wastes time.

100% man! do it.
