Snorlax bodyslam or hyperbeam

Hey,
is it worth it powering up a snorlax with 64% iv and Zh and Bs or wait or one with Zh and HB ?
Is Bs really that much better ?

BS is insanely good on defense, the defender AI can basically just spam Body Slam over and over throughout the course of the battle.

HB is probably the best "available" move for Snorlax after Gen2 dropped, but legacy Body Slam is so amazing on defense.

I couldn't have said any better. BS is just an awesome move on defense. I'm still wondering how the AI can throw 4 BS in a row while it's a 3 bar attack.

If the defender has one charged and ready to go (or two bars), the pokemon can use the attack, and then take damage from one of your charge attacks, and their bars will be completely full again, allowing the snorlax to use body slam 3-4 times in a row. Just be careful when you use your charge attack...

Actually the defending pokemon has the double energy cap. The defending pokemon could technically throw even 2 hyper beams one right after the other, but the way the AI works it will use the first before it has enough energy for 2 of them
But it can easily end up with more than 100 energy and use 4 body slams in a row

lick/body slam is another story right? is lick that useless on defense? This is the only bs legacy Lax I got, 80% iv.

I would rank the defense movesets:

ZH-BS
ZH-HB
ZH-HS
L/BS
ZH-EQ, etc.

Most of the defense AI damage output is from the use of charge moves, especially with a move like BS. Similarly, most of the energy generated by defenders is from damage taken, so if you're doing decent DPS against a Snorlax, it can just use Body Slam over and over and over. So, it's probably pretty close in value to ZH-HS, but L/BS isn't totally useless on defense because of how strong BS is.

So say huge dps moves like solar beam or hurricane hits Snorlax. The body slams will hit back harder and faster?

If this is the case, then lick/zh difference can sort of be glossed over right? BS is the deciding factor.

On defense, I think any Zen Headbutt moveset is better than any Lick moveset. Lick is just so pathetic on defense.

Yes, it is. A lot of people will say that are comparable, but it really isn't in practice. BS got a huge buff in becoming a three charge move. Now not only does it benefit from stab, is arguably the toughest charge move to predict, but it also hits more often now.

Hyper beam isn't bad, it's still good and benefits from stab, but you can see it coming from a mile away. It's damage output is also less than that of BS as a whole.

Snorlaxes main goal is to defend, and just by being a Snorlax they will. However, Body Slam is far tougher to deal with than hyper beam, and now that it is legacy it is worth much more.

i have one with zh/bs and he seems to do work. you cant get bodyslam as a charge move anymore and its the only 3 bar charge. i like it personally. I was lucky enough to catch a wild one that didnt need investing in, but overall yeah body slam is great

L/BS is amazing even if you have one. Snorlax will hit so many body slams in a battle now it's a 3 bar move the difference between ZH and lick is negligible.

HB is just so easy to dodge. Body slam Snorlaxes are king.

I rather take headbutt than lick, but i rather take body slam than any other snorlax charge move.

I have 3000+ headbutt/body slam and
3000+ lick/body slam
and i love em both

I have lick/bs snorlax at 28xx cp.
I have a db/dc at 24xx cp and wife has a dt/or 19xx, we try to see which is better. I was surprised her perform better. Db gives faster energy regeneration and bs can hit 3 in a row. Whereas dt one does a bit better and with less frequent bs. Not sure if dt/or fighting zh/bs will be better

HB is easy to dodge, but when it's coming from a CP3000+ Snorlax even a dodged HB is gonna lay down some serious damage.
