Dragonite with Dragon Tail/ Outrage?

I got a 90IV Dragonite with DT/OT, will it be a good defender or attacker? How good is it?

Great defender / good attacker. It's going to soak up damage when attacking because of the longer cooldowns of DT and Outrage, but the DPS is enormous -- it's the highest DPS moveset for Dragonite (DT-OR > DT-H > DT-HB > SW-OR > DB/DC, etc.)

And on defense, this is the best moveset. The damage output is wild. Just wait until you fight one in a gym and take 2x Outrage in a row (137 damage each with STAB).

This is the best moveset you can get with dragonite since Gen2 dropped, so you should be very happy with your new mon. I evolved a 91% (15 atk IV) DT-OR this morning, and he's a beast (3494 CP).

It's no good. Just send it to Professor Willow to grind it for a candy. #sarcasm
I don't know why people ask these generic questions. Is this moveset any good? Just use the gamepress moveset section and make your own judgement.

Normally I agree. Dumb questions that can be answered by clicking a link. But in this case, with the movset so new, it's not that easy. In fact, if you check the moveset for this there is no ranking as in pre-Gen2 movesets. Only raw DPS data that doesn't take into consideration all those small details (type vs. current meta) that gamepress does when it gives the movesets letter grades.

So though I hate humblebrag posts, I think this is a fair questions regarding a brand new moveset. I'm level 35 and I clicked on the question as I wanted to see the answer.

I just evolved a DT/H Dragonite and though the DPS data is up I'm curious to see how it grades based on it's typing.

So, good question actually, and hope to see some of the more detail-oriented members of the site offer up some opinions. This would suffice prior to the Gamepress letter grades that will eventually come.

It's a great defender with a glaring weakness to ICE, but the IVs are so high I'd throw it in the gym asap. It's also a great generalist attacker. I have 0 experience w/ outrage but I've used DT and should be great vs Snorlax or anything really if you like hard hitting slow quick moves. Be glad you didn't end up with SW!

I don't come across Dratini often. At level 35 I have 3. With the third happening tonight. My first two were SW/HB and SW/DC. Crap and crap. My newest one is 92% IV and DT/H. I don't know how practical it will be. The two Dragonites I have from long afo are CP 2900 or so and 3050 or so. My current one is hatched from a Dratini so he is level 20. He will take an incredible amount of time to level up and I'm not sure I wanna devote the next 200km to getting him up there. Currently I have a ZH/HB Snorlax at 2974 that has been my main dude for gyms even though my SW/DC Dragonite has higher CP. When a CP2974 Snorlax throws a HB out there it hits hard even if dodged. :)

SW + Dragon Claw is going to be pretty good for a defensive moveset. with the rebalance of DC to a 3-bar charge move, the defender AI is basically going to be spamming Claw throughout the course of the battle.it

It's too bad we can't obtain a DT+DC Dragonite because that would be amazing on defense. But outside of DT+Outrage, I am thinking SW+DC is going to be the next best defensive moveset.
