Apparently Niantic doesn't think it's Anniversary is that special and only celebrates with Pikachu!!

I may be wrong but logically the Anniversary announcement special would clearly state everything to expect on February 26, 2017. Niantic hasn't in the past made two (2) separate announcements for an event! Apparently Niantic doesn't believe it's Anniversary qualifies for anything more than Pikachu with a party hat!
Don't hold your breath for anything more on Niantic's Anniversary!
Hope I'm proven wrong.... What do you think???

I don't feel the need for another special event so soon after the Valentine's day event and the gen2 release, but I'll take what we're given without complaint.

I'm not complaining....
Logically thinking because many trainers seem to be hoping/expecting for more benefits to be added for this anniversary.
Good point was made that this really isn't Niantic's anniversary but Pokemon Anniversary. And the Pikachu with party hats is cute...
I must confess that I too was expecting something a little more than just a Pikachu..... It is a special event..... Bigger than Holloween for Pokemon Go trainers.... Now logically I won't expect anything else special to celebrate the Anniversary.... Hope I'm proven wrong!

I also want a Blissey with an old-time nurse's hat, and a Houndour with an ugly Christmas sweater.

However, if I evolve it into Raichu, will it have a party hat?

It should, yes

Probably, since the christmas pikachu evolved into raichu with a hat

Maybe they will bless us with another move re-balancing update.

It is not niantic anniversary, it is pokemon's anniversary. Niantic just started messing with pokemon last year.

If you want to have a go at Niantic, it might pay to know what you are having a go at.
Niantics Pokemon Go anniversary is in July.

So I'm of the mindset Niantic doesn't want to be overly reliant on events to capture players otherwise people play every few months for events only.

Remember, it was Niantic's announcement that brought up the Anniversary date... I doubt that many of us would have known and/or expected something very special on February 27, 2017, but for Niantic's announcement to look for some special things to come about for the celebration.
