What to do you a B/OT Gyarados?

Just evolved him and got this moveset. Any thoughts on both offensive and defensive side?

Looks like a pretty bad moveset overall...

i haven't tried it out but i would assume its not awful, tho definitely not THE ideal moveset for offense or defense.

you would prolly want bite with hydro pump for quick energy build up. outrage is still good for offense though as it might be easier to dodge with but obviously has way less damage given with no STAB.

for defense, outrage is prolly the ideal charge move for gyarados. but bite is most definitely weaker than dragon tail.

so id say its a solid moveset, but not the best.

I got 1 with Dragon tail/ crunch. It was a level 29 karp. 87%.. Found it at a nest right before Gen 2. Thankfully I still have enough candy for another, and some great karps .

I had a bigger loss: Espeon with ZH-Psybeam 95.6% and level 30. Used my name trick and got this with my best Eevee.

Well tbh, I hoped this Gyarados would have a great moveset after my P/P Blissey and SW/HB Dragonite... I'll never get those 2 again soon so I feel really demotivated to get every worst moveset on "big" mons...

I've evolved 2 Espeon since the update - both psybeam.
2 Dragonites since the update - both steel wing, 1 hurricane 1 hyper beam (1 of those was the 100 IV Dragonite I've been waiting for for 8 months).
2 Gyarados since the update - both crunch.
4/6 of my Gyarados got Twister or Crunch, and 5/6 of my Dragonites got Steel Wing.

Shit happens.

At least, regarding the number of mons you got since the update, it seems you are lucky enough to find a lot of dratinis, karps where you live.

It will take me 3 to 4 months to find enough dratinis to get another Dragonite ;-)

Btw, how valuable is SW/HB for gym defending? Is it worth power him up to level 30 or should I forget about him and start hunting dratinis?

I'm dead serious. It's kind of depressing but I've never seemed to have good luck gambling :P

During the event I played way too much and live near some large lakes in a city which produce a ton of magikarp and some dratini/dragonair here and there. I stocked up a bunch with the double candy and have hatched 5 dratini since the event - rates of 10k and dratini eggs are definitely increased. However I've been getting bogus IVs and candy from them.. 3 were under 80 and one was 69IV and gave me 16 candy. But one was 100IV :)

Unless he's a really high IV, I wouldn't power him. From what I've been seeing the new dragon quick move is better on defense than SW and you don't get STAB with either move. The 100IV SW/H I got is killing me to power up, but I'm doing it anyways since it's 100IV. I evolved an 80IV 2800CP SW/HB and I'm not planning on powering it anytime soon. Worst current or legacy move set IMO.

FWIW I hatched 0 total Dratini prior to gen 2 being released. 5 Dratini since.

Actually he's 91% IV and if I power him up to lvl 30 he'll be above 3000cp.

Up to you. Because it will take you so long to get another one I can see how it's tempting. And it is a Dragonite, so it's not like it's bad. But I do think it's the worst move set.
