Rhydon RS/SE
So I've just got a Rhyhorn with 43/45 IV, got Rock Smash and Stone Edge on Rhydon. How good/bad is this moveset? Should I power him up?

Yes, but those are the best 2 out of BIG 7 (CP) defenders: Snorlax, Blissey, Dragonite, Vaporeon, Gyarados, Rhydon, Tyranitar.
Let's look at all 7 and see why RS is better tham MS:
1-2. He is weak to 2 of them: Vap and Gya, so you will not fight them.
3-4 Rhyhdon and Tyra - you will fight them with Vapes
5 Dragonite - you will fight with: Lapras, Cloyster, PIloswhine, Jynx
6-7 - RS+SE is best among Rhydons combos (and top 3 from all pokemons) vs the toughest defenders.
From my experience I only use Rhydons when having to fight 7-10 level gyms with more Snorlax+Blissey.
Until I realised what I've written above I also regretted that all my 4 Rhydons have Rock Smash.
Basically RS is only inferior in defence, but again, from my recent experience, I dodge all his quick moves and Earthquake and Megahorn while I take every single one of the Stone Edge (is has the earliest damage window among all charge moves right now).
Can you please tell me why you think MS is still better than RS? (prior gen 2 yes, MS was better in all scenarios, not true anymore).
Quoting my comment from above:

Gamepress has updated its best moves for each Pokemon in its IVStats app, and it lists Mud Slap/Stone Edge as Rhydon's best attacking moveset. Probably because Mud Slap gains 8.57 Energy/Per Second to Rock Smash's 7.69.
I have a 98% 2800+ RS/SE and I use him 100% for Snorlax and Blissey fighting. I had him sitting around 2600 for the longest time but with Blisseys coming in I decided to get him up to 2800. I'm ever so slowly powering him up to 3000+ but not making it a priority.
Other mons can attack/defeat Blissey and Snorlax so if you have some good attackers you don't need to power up this one. But if you want a decent attacker vs normal types and have the dust and candies to spare then go for it.
I have 4 other great MS/EQ Rhydons (2900+) but for some reason have always had a soft spot for my RS/SE Rhydon. Maybe because of how many Fatties he has slayed in his time. Wish he had a counter for fatties he has taken down.
Well that is a good question. Rhyhorns are extremely common here. As we speak I have a Rhyhorn nest across the street from me. I probably have 18 Rhydons or so. I have evolved 6 that are 96%+ and have another 8 that are 84-89%.
Funny thing is, none have MS/SE :( How is that for luck? I have two with RS/SE. So here I sit with a bunch of top Rhydons with MS/EQ. They work fine for their intended use.
