Why did Niantic make Future Sight strictly better than Psychic?
I looked at each move's statistics and Future Sight outclasses Psychic in every way. If they would've left Psychic as a 2-bar move, it would've gave it some niche uses but instead they made it completely obselete.

Yup...we all have to hunt a new Alakazam moveset to get the best out of him.
He can be costly to run...I should know I have a stable of them.
C/Fs is nice but I prefer Pc for the dodge, but I don't have Pc/Fs combo YET.
C/Fs hits like a truck, but is vulnerable to missing dodges...so I will use Pc/P until I strike it lucky.
I guess my attackers line up is back in the hands of the rng gods again.
True, PC/P still deals a lot of damage! And honestly, in the grand scheme of things, is it really THAT big of a difference? Not really. Future sight is kinda like overkill when P still does the job. With that said thought, I too am in a pursuit of a PS/F. Cmon Abras come to me!!! Also, Niantic gifted us with Pinap Berry's so yay!
While I respect your point of view for me it is a BIG waste, my explanation, I don't have many gyms in my town, not the money to spend on incubators runs over and over, and not a pogo plus to catch all mons, with that being said dust is a very limited source, and I am at level 35, so taking my Alakazam from level 20 to the max costed me probably around 200k dust or even more (not talked about the candies to get PC/PS after 5 tries and the ones to power him up). If I know he would become not the optimal moveset for him I would never spend that dust, never.
It is ok to introduce new moves and make the game different, I agree, but DON'T make legacy moves worse by doing it, they could have make Psychic a 2 bar charge move or increase its power to make it the same that Future Sight.
I am angry with Niantic to do this, I don't think it is good for gyms, and let me explain why, with this gym variety will be lower always, people will only invest on the top tier mons because they feel others can be a waste of dust, if you have a mon that does not have the higher cp and you invest on it because you like it and has the best moveset (for example like a lot of us invested on Poliwrath and Slowbro), and then you balance it nerfing those moves and mons, everyone will just invest only on Gyarados, Rhydon, Dragonite and Snorlax (and now Blissey), so ALL gyms will continue to be the same. No game improvement at all, just the same again and again and again.
I like your way of thinking, but have a different perspective.
The way I see it, you either have an "optimal" Alakazam or you don't.
If you originally set out to build up two "perfect" Alakazams with Psycho Cut and Psychic. The endeavor can now be considered a complete waste of time and dust, as a result of the recent game update.
In my opinion, this discouraging aspect of the game must go.
If you got to use them, or even are still using them while you hunt a new one - then they are not a waste of time at all.
I brought lvl11 Abra to lvl31 Pc/P Alakazam in the days before the update...sure I would have preferred to wait - but nothing guarantees he would have been given that one better moveset anyway.
He still kicks butt, and is still part of my line up.
He was not a waste.
I understand you are not fond of the idea of having TMs in PoGo, but if (big if) Niantic does, one day, decide to put TMs in the game, how should they go about doing it, in your opinion?
I personally feel that it would be a great feature to have. I don't think TMs would jeopardize overall gameplay if they are introduced to the game tactfully.
They would need to be limited...very limited, which would upset many.
The basic idea of this game is to go out and catch mons...walk around, throw balls and 'catch em all'.
By not introducing TM's then they are encouraging exactly that.
Secondly, if they don't give us reason to continue to capture previous gen mons then we will complain (and rightfully) that they are taking away spawns from mons we would prefer to catch - here is the kicker...they need previous gen mons spawning or else no new players can ever 'catch em all'.
If TMs were to come in, then they would need to be rarer than evolve items...no one will ever need many.
...at the end of the day, I think TMs defeat the purpose of the core essence of this version of Pokemon.
I have no problem with going out and catching more mons as a way to play the game. I don't need every single best in slot mon immediately.
If I did, then I would be wondering what to do next.
With enough TMs, you could calculate the exact number of each type of pokemon you need to catch, and then never need to catch another of that type again. That defeats the point of the game.
