Just out of curiosity whats the end game for everyone?
Will you continue to play the game after obtaining all of this gen's new Pokemon? I originally thought adding new Pokemon and spicing up the move sets would be game changing. It honestly doesn't seem that fun to play as a single player. You have to play in a group format to challenge each other. I mean this community is great for sure, but I have a hard time seeing more than a select few that remain when generation 3. I'm sure everyone would continue playing and people who gave up would come back if they had a funner gym format. Smashing the screen gets old pretty fast. It's especially hard on rural players who at times probably have to travel way out of their way for a gym. I'd pay a few bucks a month a a monthly fee if they continuously added new content, but spending money on poke coins for currently obtainable items is borderline laughable (esp. those new avatar items). So as a way to conclude I guess my question is who will continue to play if they never add interactions with other players? Ala. your PVP, trading, and etc. Would some players quit because their dex might never be complete for a long time due to regionals and legendaries. In closing note I've noticed that there are more older players than younger players which is pretty interesting.

I play to kill time and enjoy myself, like any other game. I'll definitely continue to play with no pvp content just for the fact it fits my lifestyle perfectly as is. Some added difficulty in gyms is all I would hope for. I think the catching of pokes should be the meat of the game and the gyms should be the end game(lvl 30+). It should be difficult and take some strategy.
Though I do hope they add pvp for other players' sake.
When I start playing Pokemon GO I wanted to become level 30+ and complete my Gen1 Pokedex. I succeeded with the first goal a while ago and, finally, managed to complete my Pokedex yesterday.
Further, I wanted to max out my storage and item slots. Succeeded today.
Now I would like to complete Gen2 Pokedex and maybe try to get all medals.
My end-game activity is the collection of strong Pokemon that have:
- 96% perfect or better IVs, and
- an "optimal" moveset (offensive DPS)
I have been able to obtain a handful of such Pokemon by spending time, effort, and a small amount of cash. I powered up my five "trophy" Pokémon to the max with all my resources.
Lately, I came to realize that, without TMs in the game, one "re-balancing" update from Niantic is all it takes to tarnish a player's past efforts in finding and building those "perfect" Pokemon.
As such, my end-game activity is now gone so I won't be spending much time playing PoGo.
That is not true, as the majority of my best Pokemon are probably on the winning end of this re-balance update (or unaffected). I'm not sure, you can feel free to check my Pokemon Box and advise me. In any case, to me, that is not the point.
I do feel discontent, however, but it is for a different reason.
I just feel strongly that game updates should be carried out in a way such that a player's effort and time spent do not go to "waste". An update should serve to improve game mechanics, excite existing players, add content, and so on. That is all great and may be necessary. Updates, however, should in no way render a player's past game progress irrelevant. When an update turns good, heavily invested Pokemon into "shit" overnight, the player's progress in building that Pokemon is essentially tarnished.
In short, my opinion is that nerfs and move adjustments are fine, but Niantic should introduce TMs or other ways to address the aforementioned issue.
In the presence of uncertainty, greater game flexibility should be offered.
I'm not against game updates, I'm against the lack of flexibility in response to such updates.
Though, we can agree to disagree.
Mostly walking for me - PoGo + Fitbit = great combination - I'm often surprised by how much time has passed and steps accumulated when I'm walking in a pokestop-dense park to fill my items bag and catching PKM non-stop when the V-day lures were going full-blast! Also catching strong IV mons and developing a strong Attack/Prestige team has become a goal, although I've been in 12 gyms for a week without a single KO so that's really not important (but nice to accumulate coins for the next incubator event!). Gen2 has been strangely anticlimactic because it didn't really change much, although I appreciate the variety of PKM to catch now, and new shadows on the sightings...
I stopped playing for 2 months but now on all day cause of gen 2. The first move rebalance really finally had me having fun in gyms cause your pokemon die faster and do more damage. It was harder to dodge making us players really create a plan to take gyms down. Now it went back to normal and seems tooblb easy to take gyms down smh. If they add a better tracker then ill keep playing but for now they've done a good job and to me it's just a matter of time before a change happens and i stop again.
