100% Nido King relevant now?

Checking the new updated best moves here and there, Nido King with poison jab and sludge wave is a new best move combination. Sitting at level 29 with 1977 CP, level 35 max is 2266. Level 40 max at 2386. No way does this mon warrant the candy and stardust commitment, am I right?
I'm in the process of comparing what else I have with new move sets. My magneton is a legacy mon now with thunder shock / discharge, and 1 of my venusaurs now have what is the best move set.. razor leaf/petal blizzard. I used this guy to filet up some Rydon and Golem on a regular basis. Are these mons still going to be as useful for the specific battles I relegated them to? I'm assuming yes, I just need to learn new dodging and timings?

Thunder Shock is useless by Magneton, Petal Blizzard is useless compared to Solar Beam. Nidoking would have been useful if gen 2 hadn't been released, because of the increased fairies at the Valentines Day event.

Nidoking is still useless. Double damage from watergun and low CP

Nidoking is poison/ground. Only a single weakness to ground, ice, psychic, and water.

His too low max CP is what cripples him as a gym defender. Unless you can put it above some idiot's 2000cp Blissey, Nidoking is just not going to place very highly.

I say this sadly as the owner of a perfect perfect Nidoking with 100% IVs and Poison Jab/Earthquake.

1) Nidoking is underated mon that have low cp and it's stat is bad to begin with. Even Muk have better overall stats than nidoking if you're looking for a Poison DPS.
Nidoking is a good attacker solely of it's ground type which EQ is viable to make great matchup for those who weak against ground. I'd prefered to keep him as a trophy :D

2)Electric quick moves is so bad even i wouldn't use my own jolteon to fry gyarados because of it's slow CD and also frail dps. Discharge is the 3rd worst electric charge move

3)Venusaur is a beast with those moves, i would still powered him up to max CP :D

I mostly agree, but... I don't quite get why everyone claims electric moves are so bad. Yes, their DPS is quite low, but it was even prior to the update. However their EPS is pretty good (roughly top 15% best moves), and EPS is now much more important, since quick moves suck in general, while charge moves produce most pokemon power. To conclude, TS/not discharge Jolt is still great Gyara counter IMO.
