Best Lapras Counter
I'm wondering what the best counter to a Defending Lapras is. I can't seem to find a Pokemon that does well against one.

The BEST counter is an Omastar (closely followed by Kabutops) with the best Rock attacks it can get.
Rock is super effective on Lapras, and has a STAB on these two pokemon, while both also have Water typing to resist Lapras' ice attacks.
I've found some other pokemon to do reasonably:
-Any of the strong Water/Psychics with double Psychic attacks.
-A Poliwrath with submission will resist Ice and his spammable charge move is super effective
-Electric types are super effective, but have low defensive stats themselves
-I've found it relatively easy to beat using a Blastoise with Bite/Flash Cannon (arguably with STAB water gun should equal Bite against Lapras, and I only use Flash cannon for the finish since it takes so long).
- I'd guess Clefable does fine against her, especially a Dragon Pulse one
- Arcanine/Flareon can make do with regular damage while resisting ice.
For now, I agree though - Lapras is probably the hardest pokemon to counter in the game. Especially because it's so hard to get an Omastar/Kabutops in most areas (mine included) and if you do manage to get one there's a low probability it will have double rock attacks).
Omastar can't get Rock quick attack anymore. It could get Rock Throw before, but that was changed so Omastar can now get only Mud Shot or Water Gun. If you are lucky to have saved one with Rock Throw, congratz you have the best counter to Lapras.
Kabutops could never learn rock quick attack.
Only Water/Psychic pokemon which can learn psychic quick attack is Slowbro. But Confusion is not the best for attacking.
Poliwrath with Bubble and Submission doesn't work really well against Lapras, I find Karate Chop + Cross Chop Machamp better even if he doesn't resist ice, but his defense and stamina are quite high to cover that.
I manage to take down Lapras with Jolteon, but I always end up with a little bit of health left especially if its Ice Shard + Ice Beam Lapras. (I dodge EVERY attack.). Maybe Magneton could do well?
Fire Fang + Fire Blast Arcanine is the best currently available pokemon to counter Lapras. He manages really well but not entirely crush Lapras. Ember + Fire Blast Flareon is good substitute for players who aren' getting rare pokemons every day, but care because Flareon has low max HP.
Yikes, I didn't notice the change to Omastar. Shame, I don't have one yet but was really hoping to get one eventually...
Hopefully something in Gen2 will be a dramatically better counter to Lapras then. Aside from Mewtwo, legendaries won't even help since all of the birds will have a flying weakness to ice.
