New Machamp moves makes him viable?

So i just evolved my machop all the way, hoping he will get some new fighting moves to make him better

(from what i understand...it was a lack of good moves keeping him from being strong before)

Well, he has got new moves....
And some how... i got both of them!
Both the new fighting type ones anyway

Counter: 10
Close Combat: 100

(think he might have a new steel type charge move too which i didn't get luckily)

So, are they good moves? Is this gonna make Machamp a higher tier pokemon?
Could be a good pick into a snorlax maybe
