New bonus on multiple Pokémon type caught often

The new update says we get a bonus in catching the same type of Pokémon often. I have a lot of my metals to the gold level for all but 4 types, but I don't see more stardust, XP, or candies given each time I catch them. Do you know what this "bonus" consists of and if it's useable to our advantage?

+3 means you would have a 3% increased probability of catching the Pokemon. It's an abysmal update.

I think the increase is much higher than 3%. This is only anecdotal, but I've noticed it's significantly easier to catch high-CP mons now. I can't wait until the gamepress team releases their data on the change.
