Which Snorlax?

This seems to be an endless debate, but I appreciate the perspective of this community. I intend to make Snorlax my buddy. Once I've accumulated enough candy, I intend to max one of them for my level (30), provided a better one doesn't come along. So I ask, which do I power up?

Thank you for your insight.

There seems to be a big IV difference...I would go for the highest one, even with earthquake, seems really good

Max out the Zen-EQ first then start powering the other to 2700CP. Even with 46.6% ivs, Hyper Beam with stab is a AK-47 shot in the head even with dodging.

I would advise the ZH/EQ one for sure. Great ivs and a good defensive move set.

Wait for A ZH/Body Slam. Hyper Beam is strong but let's face it, it will be dodged.

Body Slam can be dodged if you always trying to swipe the screen when you feel it is about to come out, just like me. Also, the previous one does less overall damage to snorlax. If you are fast with no lags, 0.4 seconds should still be easy to dodge.

I'll have to say what anyone other sensible player says power up the high IV one. Only if you mean to use it as a pure defender. ZH/EQ is an awful attacking moveset. If someone is tearing down the gym would it matter to them what moveset Snorlax has? BS might be slightly more annoying, but who really cares. The most important part is jockeying for gym positioning.

Between those two it's not an endless debate. If anything it's simple. The one with Hyperbeam for defense. Earthquake isn't bad, but all things being equal, you gotta go with Hyperbeam.

And sure, you can dodge the HB. But if that Snorlax is level 30 a dodged HB is still gonna hurt.

It is an endless debate. I completely 100% disagree with you. I think the HB is transferable and ZH/EQ is the one to power up.
Your low IV HB lax will sit below Vapes in gyms. Basically investing in a "Gym Killer" which is bad cuz its kills your own team vs helps it.

Thank you all for your feedback. I think that given my area, I'm leaning towards the following:

HB at 2736 CP < EQ at 2919 CP

Is STAB HB worth almost 200 CP, and thus 1 or 2 slots lower in gym placement? I've been sitting on the EQ Snorlax for several months, because EQ was rated so low. Now with the meta changing due to Rhydon's buff, I was ready to finally power him up. Then this morning, I see the HB on my radar. At the end of the day, I'll probably end up powering both up, provided I don't get lucky with a new one.

Go to EQ first, then in the future if you dont catch or hatch a better one, power the HB one. You will have a higher spot on Gyms and EQ is great too. Have fun.

Earthquake as a charge move will do just fine. As you already mentioned, it hits Rhydon quite hard (125 Damage with super effective compared to 120 HB), while the damage comes so shortly after the announcement, that it can be quite hard for the attacker to dodge, especially with Mud Slap being so slow. As long as it has ZH, your Snorlax is one hell of a defender anyway.
And yes, 200 CP make a difference, they will push you from the Vaporeon/Gyarados-cp class to the Rhydon/Snorlax one, so you are going to secure to be at least in the top 3 im pretty much ANY gym.
I would personally never power up a 46% Snorlax though, the candy is just too damn rare to waste, better wait for another one (hatches should especially be mentioned here).
