Does a pokemon's level affect its battle performance?

Hey! I know powering up increases the HP of a Pokemon, but does it do anthing else like improve its attack stat?

Yes it does. Attack defense and stamina are calculated using, base stats ,iv's and Pokémon level. You should read the Damage mechanics section on this site.

Powering up a Pokemon increases it's level, and level affects the CP Multiplier / CPM stat, which is basically how much of your base stat your Pokemon uses. Your base stat always remains the same, you're just using a larger portion of it when you level up.

As an example, the CPM for level 20 is 0.5974 so your Pokemon will effectively have 59.74% of it's base stats, while at level 40 the CPM value is 0.79, so your Pokemon uses 79% of it's base stats.
