Do you think Niantic will have trading on candies?
Just caught a dragonite CP169 IV49 DB/DP. I wouldn't mind to trade it for 30 dratini candies.

No I don't think so, but I really think that evolutions and rare mons should give more candies when you transfer them to professor, I have 11 Snorlax and I don't want to transfer any of them, even the 200CP one, because getting 1 candy for them is completely useless, I prefer to save them as a trophy that getting one stupid candy.
For me rares and third evolutions should give at least 5 candies when transfering to the professor, and second evolutions 3. This way makes you actually think if you want to keep the mon or transfer it for exchange of one or two powerups.
From my point of view: If i had 120 candy and no dragonite, i would surely have a high-iv-dratini too. I would surely walk for the missing 5 candy, evolve my own dratini and decide what to do after i know the moveset.
As your price is somehow explainable, your explaination is correct. I fear, it is hard to find someone who pays it anyway. I think, the free marked would form a knowledge about which prices are reasonable. I expect some low-cp-high-iv-good-moveset-dragonites to be out somewhere and they will put pressure on the price of yours.

Nope. Over 300 candies and nothing better then Attention, so still looking for mine and never hatched any.
I just wanted to post a new thead titled "How bad a Draginite can be?" :) Yesterday I stumbled upon a Dragonair of something like 1036CP. Didn't catch it though. I had my son's phone with me and wanted candies for him and his mon was 137CP only, so I caught this one faster, still 2 razz + ultras were needed. Mine was breaking free so I checked IVs on the caught one and saw it was a third class mon, than I ran from it. Just didn't want to spoil my resources anymore on an average mon. And frankly I don'd understand this excitement someone cacthing a crappy mon and holds it as a trophy - I caught 6 Lapras and hatched 1. I have only 1 now.

This is quite hard. I would check ivs for all these "attention" dratinis and evolve the highest.

I would have tried to catch this one too, as my dratini candy are rare. It is equivalent to 4 candy, to 20 km walking, and you can gather lots of great balls walking 20 km.
This goes back to the question whether IV or moveset is more important for Tier 1 pkms. If need to chose one, I rather have good moveset.
In general, this is true, but imo it does not really apply for dragonite. Dragonite has no bad moveset. It has good attacking movesets (DB + anything) and good defending movesets (SW + anything).
With other PKM, it is quite different, some have literaly one useable moveset, p.ex. alakazam with PC/Ps, there i would invest some candy to be sure i get the correct one.
Having said this, i would not pay extra candy to know dragonites moveset in advance.
Suppose this dragonite has CP2000, would you pay 100 candies for it?
No. I would build an own high iv dragonite.
