Best and worst moment in your trainer career

Some time has passed by since the apps release and I am curious to hear what people have experienced so far with PoGo in terms of catches.
For my reference, I think, my worst moment ever was about 2 weeks ago, when a 2700 84% Zen-Body Snorlax fleed after 2 ultra Balls. Never felt so downed before because of a game. On the other hand I caught the Snorlax for a friend, which leads to my possibly best moment: this friend woke me up a few days ago with a call and he told me, that I should look into my inventary. What I found was a 2000 CP 96% Is/Ib Lapras.
I had a university presentation, but I was so happy all day long, that things came easy to me and I passed it with an A. ?

Congrats on the 96% IS-IB Lapras. One of the rarest possible mons in the game with near perfect IVs and best moveset!

Worst moment, I had a 2700+ Snorlax flee from me after one ball -- not sure on IV and moveset.

Best moment, catching a wild 98% dratini that I have evolved and maxed out to 3517 CP defender (SW-HB). He's a beast.

Good luck in the future, dude.

Thanks, it almost made up for that missed Snorlax.
But I can feel your pain haha.

That's one hell of a Dragonite you have there mate, I definitely envy you for this. :O

Btw, do you use scanners/ live maps?

Same mate, may you get a 100% Dratini soon! :)

Worst moment was when a Venusaur spawned during the increased starters event, it was around 1300 CP if I remember right, and that fucker ran away after 3 great curveballs using ultras and razz.

Best is probably catching a Lapras, during the increased Pokestop items + spawns event. It's only level 10 but I've walked it for almost 500 km, and it's got IS/Blizzard. I couldn't throw a curve ball far enough so I was really worried that it'd flee. I think I wasted about 20 ultras not being able to throw them far enough, and it took somewhere between 5 to 10 tries to catch it.

What type of area did you find your Lapras? You live near the ocean? I've given up on the lake, I've spent 90% of my time there and still haven't seen one spawn.

Up

Most of the Lapras I caught so far were located randomly in the city center. Just 1 out of like 15 was in a suburb, the rest was more or less in downtown.

I live near a major river. Of the six Lapras i found only one was at the water, the rest were randomly distributed across town.

Nope, live in a small town that's in the midland. Caught it close to the town park. It wasn't near water.

I caught two Laprases 15 minutes apart on the day the Santa Pikachus first came out. I too struggled with the throw distance, until I started using the "L" throw. The second Lapras (level 30, CP 2456) took quite a few throws, but he finally stuck in the ball. My accuracy with the "L" throw at that distance was much better than with any other throw I tried.

Worst moment is probably evolving a perfect ghastly to get the worst moveset. For some reason it still bothers me.

Best moment by a long shot is catching a 2811 Zen/bs 82% snorlax, I've never caught anything that good before. I still haven't powered it up just because I feel like it should stay how it is.

Up

Guess, there must be something wrong with Ghastly haha. Evolved 1 96% and 2 98% ones, all 3 came out with SC/SB. Not bad, but so close to the optimal moveset, I felt kinda cheated on by Niantic. -.-

Wow, at least one of us could succed in the discipline of catching high CP Snorlax :) Congrats dude!

Worst moment definitely when a 2763 Dragonite fled from me. Best probably catching my first Snorlax who had 91% iv!

Omg, if this would be me, there would be a high chance, that I would simply quit the game haha.
But that Snorlax is an amazing catch, so rare :)

How did your friend catch the Lapras for you if they were not with you?

Well, its obviously a thing of trust, but we shared our access data for cases like these ;)

Worst -
First time I encountered a wild dragonite, I had ZERO Pokeballs.
My first Snorlax encounter ran. It was 1500+ CP and was very early on, so was bad at the time.
Second time I encountered a wild Dragonite, I went through 70 balls before it fled
...I am still waiting on my first Dragonair/Dragonite to finish my dex.
PICK ONE.

Best moment was probably my 1st Laprus hatch.

Daaamn, but why you didnt just buy Pokeballs at the shop man? I know, its usually bullshit, but in your situation...

However, I'm sure you're gonna get your first yellow dragon soon enough, keep it up man. It took me like 4,5 months to get my first, but with the help of 2 hatches, I had to wait not more than 1 month to finish the 2nd. As time goes by, everything will come to you naturally. :)

At the time I thought I would see another at a more opportune time. Hindsight is so clear, that I have wished I did buy balls, but we live and learn.

Hopefully I find another dratini that is actually worth the evolve.
Just another 465kms as a buddy and that dragonite will be all mine. (that sentence made me die a little bit on the inside)

Best: I was 3 dratini candy away from my first dragonite evolve. I had a 71%, perfect attack, level 21 dragonair (I hadn't found anything better) lined up to evolve. The very last catch I needed ended up being a 91%, level 20 dragonair. I immediately evolved him and ended up with DB/DC. Almost any other dratini catch and I would have ended up with a 71% dragonite with who knows what move set.

Worst: Also dragonite-related. The first, and only, dragonite I ever encountered in the wild fled after 1 ultra ball with a berry.

Best: 84% Snorlax ZH/BS and 86% Lapras FB/IB hatched consecutively in the last day of the double candy event. They were my firsts Snorlax and Lapras and I screamed of happiness until I arrive home. My gf always remember me that day.

Worst: Before the CP recalculation, I transfered by error a 1600 96% Wiggly P/PR. Now, with the new stats, isnt important, so I think my worst moment was the evolution of my only Muk, one of my fav mons and the rarest in my area (much more than dratini or porygon, the second rarests here, and even more than dragonair, cause I have encounter three of them, for only one wild grimer and one hatched). That 86% Muk came with Lick/Dark Pulse... :(
There's no much Abras or Exeggs here and he would be a original and decent defender....

Up

I evolved the same Muk man - feel your pain! I mean if you see a Gengar in a gym he's your guy, but...

My two Charizards both getting E/DC was also a disappointment, after I'd waited so long to evolve even one (didn't have one before the event).

My worst moment was missing out on catching a Snorlax cos I was driving, only for my mate to catch it and announce that he has 100% IV's and ZH/HB. Yeah that wasn't great.

Best - I was pleased when I hatched my Lapras - 98% with IS/B. She's my current buddy - planning to grind enough candies to power her up to level 30 - only 198 km to go!

Best was probably hatching my favorite Snorlax.

Worst was probably finally tracking down a Lapras (pre in-game tracker days) and then having a bunch of eggs hatch. When they were finished, I clicked on him and got the error message because he despawned :(

Holy shit... Did you at least hatch something useful? :O Gosh, I would hate the game after that...

Best Memory: Caught Dragonite on the first week of playing waiting at the DMV. I yelled Dragonite and a flock of people came running in my direction. Those early on memories really were the best. This before I even caught a Dratini. Tied with bringing down a level 10 gym for the first time at level 24-5? I don't really remember what level, but I do remember have 2 revives and 0 potions left.

Worst Memory: Dragonite running away after 1 raspberry and 1 ultra ball, but tied with the feeling of having gyms sniped.

Currently I'm on vacation in Santiago and 2 days ago I saw for the very first time (!) a wild dragonite on my screen. I was very excited and clicked on the Pokemon. Guess what happened next...

"Error" -> Pokemon disappears from the screen. I think this is even worse than Pokemon who fled because I didn't even had the chance to throw one Pokebal. :(

Best Moment: 1500 CP wild Lapras near my house

Dragonite seems to be most people's sad story: stumbled upon it at a busy cross-section, have to carry it to a side road and throw 3-4 berry yellow balls, it run away! Seem low cp 1200? But I was thinking at least it can save me 124 candies.
I drove around and tried to find something but nothing, and then when I was at our home door steps, a Snorlax stands there back-sided to me! And the good part is that Snorlax never run away from at least me!

nice post

best:
+caught a blastoise in the first week or so.
+obtaining 10 gyms (actually 11 to see if the max collectable was 10 - it is).
+evolved my first gyarados...what most of you would call a 98%.
+First week, 1% on the battery trying to catch a squirtle...obv it was caught - also caught 3-4 more pokes before the phone died.
+when your mon lasts more than 1 day at a gym.
+when i finally caught the elusive nessie...i mean lapras.
+i was parked in my car, lights off, taking down a gym at a nearby church. some punk kids (idk if they were but that's how I remember it) stopped in the lot also but didn't park in a stall and left their lights on. police car rolls behind them and gets out to see what they are up to. I turn my car on and slink awayyyy. #carma #punintended

worst:
-that first gyarados...bite/twister. although the other two i have evolved both had bite/HP...so win-win-win
-low on balls, wild rapidash appears while on vacation. didn't realize it was so far back, had to go into AR mode to reach it...didn't catch it...but again...it was only a rapidash.

Twister is actually not that bad for defensive purposes, so if these are your worst memories, you got really lucky so far I guess :)

Most of my worst moments have to do with evolutions. I've had a few 97.8% pokemon that just nosedived when I finally evolved them. A Blastoise that got Bite/Ice beam (which I already had one of), an Alakazam that got confusion/shadow ball, a machamp that got bullet punch/submission (even though its best defensive moveset), and a charizard that got wing attack/flamethrower (not the end of the word, but I've evolved 4 charizards and still haven't gottem fireblast.

It has also taken me 6 venusaurs to get the moveset I want, and I've evolved 6 blastoises and still have not gotten water gun/Hydro, and even worse, is that I have two pairs of twins

Up
0
Down

Come on man, I had Ember-Fireblast for 3 consecutive times! Their IVs are 96,93 and 89 percent... So I would take yours all day long, since I actually prefer FT for attacking and this is also the best def set. In case there will be trading we can sure work something out then :P

Up

I forgot to mention on a happier note. My first snorlax was amazing. Even though it was a low CP, low IV and bad moveset... snorlax was always one of my favs and I was stoked to have finally gotten one. It was also the first pokemon I had successfully tracked down using the tracker. I walked up and down blocks to finally catch it.

Worst: finally collected 400 candies to evolve my 15/12/15 Magikarp. And ...

Bite/Twister

Worst was when i just hit level 20 in August. A CP??? Snorlax ran away after 3 ultra balls. Didn't know how to throw curveballs yet. Was a cp 1725 in the journal. Depressed for weeks.

Best was when just passed level 27 and another CP??? Snorlax appears lol. But this time i threw ultra curveballs and caught him. Finally, redemption!! CP 2254

Up

Down

After I'd been playing for about 3 weeks back in August, I saw a large black outline on my sightings. I didn't even know what it was so I showed my 11 year old son who yelled, Dad that's a dragonite!!

We frantically searched for it (this was when there was basically no tracking at all). When we found it we both caught it. DB/DC and it was 1600+ which was about as high as it could be for my level at the time. But the good part of the story is that less than 5 minutes later and a block away, we found another one! That one fled on me, but to this day I still look carefully when I'm in that neighborhood. Never seen another one there though.

I keep him fully powered up (almost 3200) and he is my highest Pokémon. He eats gyms for lunch.

Another story (stop me if you've heard this one before)... one of my main long term goals in this game back in the summer was to actually get enough Magikarp candy to evolve a Gyrados (Magikarp are rare in my area). One day I finally got enough, and found a nice juicy 15/14/14 to evolve. ... ... ... you know what comes next ...

Twister.

Up

Down

I haven't caught anything particularly special yet tbh but I have hatched a lapras. Feel a bit shit now cause it's ivs >82 and has fb/dp and I powered it. Worst moments are usually running out of pokeballs at a low level and that one time a machamp ran with kc/cc. Other than that I got nothing.

Up

Another one who saw 2 Dragonite at one day? :O But I wonder why these little bitches seem to always run away from everybody.^^
People are way to obsessed with Gyarados in my mind. Twister sucks on offense but can be really annoying defensively. Not heavily damaging, but annoying. ? Anyway. You will find a high IV karp sooner or later again man, no worries :)

Up

Worst moment without a doubt when I lost 2 Dragonites (the only 2 I have seen in the wild), but the first one still hurts, it was like 3 months ago, I was not even level 30 when a PC ??? Dragonite appear on my nearby taking a walk, I run like crazy to find it near a football field...and this happened.. :(

The best moment probably was when I catched a 100% IV Squirtle and evolved into a WG/HP Blastoise, I have others 100% like Gyarados and Poliwrath but Squirtle was my first buddy mon back on the old GB Pokémon Blue game ^^

Up

Wow, I didnt expect to say that, but thats probably even worse then my Snorlax loss. :(

Same for me, my WhatsApp group is also for this reason called the "Squirtle Squad" hahaha. Definitely a cool mon!
But 100% Poli? :O With Bubble?
My only 100% one is a Ratticate, at least with Bite-HB hahaha.

Worst moment:
Yesterday my wife caught a 96IV (15/13/15) Lapras with FB/BL. 21xx CP.
I also caught it for a friend. 22xx CP
When I tried to catch it for myself, 1 razzberry+ultraball, RAN AWAY!!!
???

Ouch! I feel your pain bro :( Maybe this friend is gonna catch a high Snorlax for you now then, at least so, if there is something like karma! :)

Worst: My second attempt to catch a Dragonite. This one, 2200cp, spawned in front of me. It was raining, I had walked for several hours, wet til the bone. Tried to get semi-sheltered under a small roof. Razzberry+Ultraball, tried to throw a great curveball but was unsuccessful due to the wet phone. Poff, he disappeared after one ball.

Best:
Right after new year, I one day had three 10km egg hatch in a row. All of them Lapras!
Tied with my first ever 10km egg. A Snorlax, 84% IV with Lick/HB. Although I then did not fully understand my luck :-)

Up
0

I swear, if I would be there standing next to yoi, I would kill you after these hatches because of jealousy. ;) Dragonite always hurts, but 3 Lapras should more than make up for this! :)

Up
0
Down

It certainly did! I just stood there and gasped. Could not believe my luck! (for my own safety happy to be alone :-)

It was not so much "loosing the Dragonite" that made it worst but the whole setting. I was wet, cold and tired after several long hours outside in the winter rain. Then suddenly a big Dragonite just spawned in front of me. I got a huge adrenaline rush, and all tireness was swept away.....and then he did not even put up a fight, just left me standing in the cold rain....

Worst moment:
I saw a gym at 49.500 xp, cycled to that gym, wanting to train up the rest. When i was there, it was at 50.000, one space open. I took that space.
I really felt bad when i noticed what i had done, and i was really eased when i got my defender back and knew, that the gym was taken down anyway the next day.
I have not gone to this gym since, still feeling very bad when i think back to this moment.

My best moment was when I finally hatched my first Snorlax in November with L/HB. It is near perfect (15/15/13).

I still didn't have a really depressing experience. I hate when I am on a train and I see something rare nearby (so happened with Porygon and Venusaur). I simply should close the app when I'm on a train.
