Pay to switch teams?

Maybe once a month or every 6 months allow you to switch teams I'm sure many of us didn't know who are friends were and what team or if they'd keep playing.

Good idea!

Dependend on regional gym-distribution, niantic could even pay out coins for a player who goes to a underrepresented team, or take coins for someone who wants to get into the favorite team.

This might be ideal to balance team distribution, but it's not very fair if you consider the single player: suppose I'm mystic and I've had a relatively easy life until now, now I'm able to switch team and get coins, while a e.g. Instinct player who had it tough until now would need to pay coins on top of that. This is rich getting richer and poor getting poorer.

Bruno has a point though. You cannot just let people switch to any team, as people will gravitate to the most powerful team in their area.

I got your point, i did not think about it deep enough. The poor would have to pay, to get out of poverty.

I would like to have a system to balance out teams better, if change is allowed, because i would expect the most players changing to the biggest team, rendering gym-play even less interesting than now.

Maybe a better idea: Additional gym battling rewards: Extra poke-coins and stardust paid for battling a dominant teams gym?
Now, the least dominant team will not keep the gym for long time, and will get less coins and dust. This could be a compensation. With this compensation, i would like more to be in a underdog-team, and maybe i would change color under these circumstances.

Let's look at it from another angle. Give ppl the ability to switch teams on a monthly period basis (if you switch on Jan 1, the next time u can switch is Jan 31) BUT depending on the team distribution in an area/township/city/region/country, if your team is the majority, occupying a gym doesn't give you 10 coins. And if your team is the minority, you get more than 10 coins.

What do you guys think?

I agree. Maybe a multiplier that is locked in when one switches to an underrepresented team that is in effect until that player can switch again.
