Is Pokemon go even worth playing anymore now that 3rd party tracking sites and apps have been disabled?

Unless Niantic updates the game with a tracking tool that is actually useful I think im done with this game, The game has way to many random elements to make it worth playing blind running around trying to catch pokemon when you could catch 30 or so of those pokemon evolve them only for them to end up with a bad moveset, its disappointing enough even when you know where to find said pokemon, if you don't its just not worth the time and disappointment, I have caught around 30 snorlax and still have yet to find one with good IVs and the zen headbutt/hyperbeam moveset, so even with using a 3rd party tracking app I still cant get the pokemon I want, and I have probably spent over £100 on this game buying incubators and storage upgrades so I feel that I am somewhat entitled to be able to play this game as it should be played.

I'm with that guy ^ I have not used any tracking. Have plenty of good and bad Pokemon. Still missing a few. Would be no fun if I knew exactly where everything is and I had perfect movesets for everything. Then I would have no motivation to play.

Maybe it's karma that you have not got a good snorlax since you used 3rd party apps in the past. Most people don't have a single one, and you're complaining your 30 aren't perfect. Some would be ecstatic to have just 1.

The game is much more fun when you have an idea where the pokemon are trust me, you still have to find and catch them.

I was using the snorlax example to show just how much randomness and luck is involved in this game, i just finally evolved a Gyarados only for it to end up with twister, not to worry only need to catch another 100 magicarp! Niantic wants you to grind your soul away for ever.

Oh I feel your pain, I've been let down many, many times by evolutions and egg hatching. But if feels so good when you finally get exactly what you want. I keep all bad movesets though in case of rebalancing.

I evolved a lot of sub par IV pre level 20 just so I could do some gym holding. Now I've saved up quite a few 95ish IV ready to evolve at level 27, hopefully some will be worth the wait! Grinding is the game, some people enjoy it.

I quite enjoy grinding, but this game is too much sometimes, in the standard pokemon games you know where the pokemon nests are and where roughly to find certain pokemon, I think it should be the same with this game. like you said finding pokemon with good IVs in the wild is difficult enough as it is, best way is through egg hatching which ends up being expensive with all the incubators you need to buy, maybe I should start taking over more gyms with all my snorlaxes to get some pokecoins in. I have a couple of 40 cp low IVs snorlaxes lol. So even if you are lucky to come across one in the wild it could end up being like one of those, or worse run away. Had so many dragonites run away, they are near impossible to catch it seems. actually hitting them with a pokeball is a challenge in itself. When I have caught them they've been low IVs. Only got my decent dragonites through grinding dratini and evolving them and praying for a good moveset. With the Pokemon you cant evolve like Snorlax and Lapras, its even more difficult, just have to pray you get one from an egg cause the most of the ones in the wild have really low IVs.

I know how you feel. For those who disagree with you, just give them another month or two, once their pokedex is complete. Let's see how much they want to grind after that. Third party tracking is good for serious players, and the only thing that kept me motivated. I'm not sure if I'm gonna play much anymore. GL finding the snorlax you want!

I really enjoyed using fastpokemap, as you still have to scan randomly to find Pokemon, and the rush you get when the scan turns up a rare Pokemon is intense. I just had a map of London on my computer and scanned randomly till something good came up and then travelled there, was a rush trying to get there in time. Now I just walk along the river bank as at least I can pretty much guarantee I can catch magicarp, poliwags, and some slowpokes that I can grind into some decent pokemon. nowhere else has enough chances of finding specific pokemon, most of the nests Ive found online no longer work.

I don't care much about filling up the Pokédex. I just like finding something slightly better than what I have. It's not a hardcore game. I walk my daughter in the stroller everyday to put her to sleep so it's perfect for me since I don't have time for real games anymore (I miss dark souls). So yes. I will be playing it for quite awhile. I feel bad for people that got tired of it so quickly though

I get the feeling that if you played with a 3rd party ap and had it taken away, then you have less motivation. But, if you never played with one, well, the gameplay never changed for you. I see the advantages of both, but personally I like the added strategy element that 3rd party apps impart. Unless Niantic finally wants to include a reliable tracking system, they should stop shutting down all the ones that allow players to do so.
