93.3 IV Snorlax ZH/EQ
Answers
People put Snorlax with Lick/Earthquake in gyms. This is at least better than that. The most important aspect of Snorlax is his fat HP and high CP. Having 93% IVs gives this really high potential. Unless you have a Snorlax with better moves AND higher IVs, I would power it up to at least 2500cp so I could put it into gyms above the lowest defenders.
I would not power any of the following movesets for defense :
Snorlax L/EQ L/HB
Dragonite DB/anything
Lapras FB/DP FB/Bliz
All others moveset are very good even though SW/HB and FB/IB are suboptimal (2nd choices if nothing better)
If I have too choose one to power up among thos bad movesets, I would go for Dragonite without hesitation because CP is the highest so always usefull in gyms and candies are more easy to get so i dont feel bad "wasting" candies. You can only power up a few Snorlax and Lapras so you need to be patient and elect a good one.
For defense, assumming good IV, all Snorlax ZH are worth powering. L/BS is aslo quite good. I would never power L/HBorEQ
The movesets of gyarados and Rhydon are secondary since they is no big difference between them and those two are weak on defense. You want them for their high CP so IV matter more.
Vaporeon is easy to get and waterpulse is way better for defense than Hydropump. Aquatail is somewhere in the middle. I personnaly power only 96%+ WP Vaporeon. But you might loosen this to 90%+ WPorAT if you have trouble getting a perfect one. Hydropump is not worth powering for defense but it's good having one to kill Rhydon golem and fires.
In my opinion, I don't agree the gamepress's statement that earthquake is not good because of no STAB bonus for NOW. Before, I believe it. Now, earthquake performs a good type coverage against gen 1 Pokémon, which is after the CP update. Gengasr, Rhydons and other attackers got their CP buffed, while Earthquake performs 25% more damage to them. Moves such as BS and HB are resisted by them and the Magnetmite family, which does normal damage. It also performs 56.25% more damage to Magnetons.
As always, a good snorlax with any moveset except for Lick/Earthquake is useful, just the most powerful defending moveset is ZH/BS.
But you should not invest your dust, since you already have good snorlaxes.
