Wild Caught Dragonites
I have never hatched a Dratini, and haven't been able to catch any in quite a while. I got my first Dragonite by using a Dratini as a Buddy for the longest time. I ended up with Dragon Breath / Hyper Beam, and now he is my main attacker.
I was fortunate to catch 3 wild Dragonites in the course of the past 3-4 months, and I am not sure what to do with them. Like I said, Dratini candy hard to come by. Currently using Lapras as Buddy, but considering going back to Dratini to evolve another Dragonite (if I catch / hatch a good Dratini) OR power up one of my wild caught ones...
Dragonite 1: CP 244, IV 35% or 37%, DB / DC (very low CP, love the moveset, was thinking powering up to 1200 CP or so to be a prestiger ?)
Dragonite 2: CP 471, IV 82%. SW / HB (highest IV one, but low CP, decent moveset?, can be a Defender but not worth powering up from this low level?)
Dragonite 3: CP 1413, IV 37% or 40%, SW / DC (Low but decent CP starting point, moveset ok to power up to be Defender?)
Any use in powering up these very low level Dragonites or start saving candy to evolve another one?

Yah, Dratinis use to spawn near a Pier in my hometown, but haven't seen them in a while now.
I work in SF, and dratinis do spawn occasionally near the Ferry Building downtown and near Pier 39, but my office is no where near there. So, it would take some effort to go there during my free time or on the weekends to catch maybe 1-2 dratinis at most per trip.
Does anyone use Dragonite as a prestiger? I want to make use of the DB / DC one, but it is so low level. It would take some dust and candy to make it even 1000 CP.
I still waiting on my 1st dragonite, have a dragonair as my buddy and I'm about 20 candy short right now.
What I've observed regarding wild dratini though is that they seem to have a small chance to spawn at places that spawn magicarp (small ponds, rivers, drainage ditches, etc). And that chance seems to be higher during the night time.
So if you have any places where you catch carp on a regular basis check them out in the evening hours and see if you have any luck finding dratini.
I live on a lake and I see every water type at my house with the exception of carp and dratini unfortunately.
Where I do find an occasional dratini and lots of carp though is at the edge of parking lots in strip malls/grocery stores. I call it the drainage ditch/retention pond effect. Might be worth cruising around a few of those and see if it is similar in your area.
