Poliwrath vs Lapras

Just disappointed that my lv26 MudShot/Sub Poliwrath couldn't beat lv25 IceShard/IceBeam Lapras without dodging. Had to dodge 1 out of 3 lce Beam to win with 2% HP. Sigh its a testament to the strength of Lapras as a defender. I don't have a strong Arcanine or Jolteon or other potential Lapras fighters but just curious how do they fare with/without dodging.

Unfortunately Poliwrath at this moment is not terribly useful, and fighting moves are terrible as well right now.

All pokemon take far far more damage without dodging, so unless its a snorlax (even then still) dodging is important.

Totally get what you mean. Water/fighting typing is double NVE to ice and sub is SE and yet it simply still could not make it as a soft counter.

Fighting does not resist ice.

Water provides resistance for single NVE, while Fighting is SE against Ice.

I've used my Bubble/Submission Poliwrath with success against Lapras, however you do still need to dodge charge moves. Dodging only charge moves I would say qualifies as a soft counter (especially when you only had to dodge 1 of 3).

And yes, Lapras is the top tier defender. It isn't surprising that it's tough to find a good fighter against her. She may be a good usage of Snorlax.

I typically use Arcanine vs Lapras but I only have 1. I also have a 100 IV flareon with E/FB but she is pretty squishy. I only use Poliwrath for defense and I think that's where he really shines.
