Determining an Optimal Moveset DPS vs Current Skill Set Ranking
I calculated the skills set optimal moveset dps for attack and defense according to https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/moveset-grades-explanation . And find that Vileplume best defense is Razor Leaf + Solar Beam. But according to your Pokemon list's Vileplume, best sense should be Razor Leaf + Petal Blizzard. (https://pokemongo.gamepress.gg/pokemon/45)
May I know why this is different? Is the way to determine the defense set not using Optimal Moveset DPS?

We have add 2s into calculation for quick attack. But still the result is not same as the suggested move set in gamepress.
Do you know why?
Another example is Wigglytuff. We calculate using optimal moveset dps with 2s buffer and find that Best Defense Set should be Feint Attack + Dazzling Gleam. But gamepress is suggesting Pound + Play Rough.
I think that's an error on the site's end tbh. However, to determine whether the move-set is most optimal for attacking or defending, you have to account for the AI executing move-sets differently while on defense. For instance, a Vileplume with Razor Leaf/Petal Blizzard would be the best defensive move-set because it has the highest DPS while having the quickest cool-down.
In conclusion, seek the move-set with the highest DPS and quickest cool-down, when determining defensive value. Also, there's not really a way to determine if a Pokemon has the optimal defensive set on spot unless you already have a rough idea of what they are in your head, but there's apps and the internet to help you with that shit. Hope this helps dude!
Vileplume's best offensive moveset is Razor Leaf + Solar Beam while its best defensive moveset is Razor Leaf + Petal Blizzard. This is just as it should be.
Best defensive movesets are often different from best offensive movesets. This is mostly because 2 seconds is added between fast moves (aside from 2 first attacks that only have an interval of 1 second). For this reason, fast moves are relatively weak when defending. Therefore in many cases you want your Pokémon to be using as much charge moves as possible during the fight which means that often charge moves with multiple charges are better for defending. This is not always the case though if moves with multiple charges have significantly lower DPS than moves with fewer charges.
Because of this defending Vaporeon with Water Pulse is theoretically a lot stronger than Hydro Pump, and also Gyarados with Twister is actually stronger on defense than Gyarados with Hydro Pump. On the other hand on offense Hydro Pump greatly outperforms other charge moves.
What comes to Wigglytuff's moveset, I've seen lots of discussion about it here recently. It would indeed appear that Feint Attack should be stronger than Pound on defense, but I might be missing something. I'd like to see Gamepress give an official answer regarding that. I know that these moveset ranks come from Qmike's spreadsheet and that also lists Pound better for Feint Attack when defending. I don't know if Gamepress just took everything straight from there or if they have knowledge why Pound is better.
