If lvl 30....is mon level max 31.5? Do I understand that right 1.5 over your respective level? Trying to use a dust calc,,,

Mine too, though I've heard at trainer level 39/40 it's different

The max that the server will accept is powering up to level 40, but there is a client-side bug that removes the power up button early when the pokemon reaches level 39.

I have read about that odd bug and cannot understand why it is not fixed (or maybe it has?). A well-documented anomaly that is retained by the developer will over time take the shape of a feature rather than a bug.
